I was very CAREFUL with mine, and but when I opened it, the glue that hold the disc holders in place was non existant. So, I'd rather go with the box than cheap plastic and non-glued disc holders.

This season also marks where the "classic" boundary is. Episodes after this are not considered "classic".

i am so excited this dvd is finnally comming. I have been waiting a long time. usually the seasons come out likie once every 5 to 6 months. it has been a year since season 7. it sure has taken a while for this dvd. I allready have all of seasons 1-7, and all of the $10 dvd's with 4 episodes, so I will defonatly buy this on also.
about the head boxes: I like the idea, and it is truly awesome, but I only have them as colectors items, I keep the dvds in the square boxes.
if you havnt heard yet, I am sorry to ruin it for you, but I am truly p**sed that the show will be over after 20 seasons. but I am also excited about the movie that is coming out.

Yeah I know if it's spread over 10 years it's doesn't seem bad, hell I'm gonna end up doing it too probably with South Park probably not the Simpsons since they are on twice a day. But won't you end up looking at your shelf one day and say "wow, I spent almost a thousand bucks on this collection."
This is $800 over about 10 years. And not everyone is going to buy past season 10. Not bad at all.

Me. Besides, $40 (30 the week of release) a season compared to other shows like Star Trek, or Buffy or Lost that goes for $80-100 a season isnt bad at all.

I'm getting sick of the inconsistency.
I`ll definately be purchasing the standard box. The arts great for it, and it will fit perfectly on my DVD shelf. I`m not a fan of the head boxes.
the Frank Grimes episode is my all time favorite Simpsons. I'll definitely be going with the non head-case packaging

Better known as Grimey I think... only seen the episode once in the late 90s but for some unknown reason I remembered that name. Must have been a good episode.
It sure was.
Don't get the head people, it falls apart the minute you open it, the glue does not hold. Buy the box. Cameras and photography seem to be a theme for these standard boxes I find.

Frank Grimes, Hoemrs Enemy, classic episode
Personally I a partial to the head box, but the other one is cool. Good season too. For me, I have seen one bad episode in the entire 17 years it has been on (the one with 50 Cent....dear god that was horrible). I have laughed at every episode and can easily quote at least one line from every episode. I am proud to be a fan. I have not missed an episode (first run) in 17 years and I don't plan on starting anytime soon. I also plan on seeing the movie and I will probably see it multiple times too. I love this show! Keep the sets coming I will buy them.
Who is the dude on the side of the box? I think I have seen every episode of the simpsons and I don't recognize that guy.
Love the artwork on the side. "Yep, there's your answer fishbulb!"
And of course, Homer'e enemy.
And of course, Homer'e enemy.
Standard artwork is a little bleh. But I love the heads. Just surprised this wasn't Bart.
Standard artwork added...
Might have to get this one, since it holds my favorite episode of the series... The Springfield Files.
Agents Mulder and Scully... FBI.

Thank God! duuduudduddudu *does victory dance*
Alas it is a definate buy for me - I love the series although in the back of my mind I still wonder what they are going to do for the movie...

Does that then mean you've got images of the non-limited edition box? or not?

A definate buy, but NOT in the big 'ol ugly box head... Now, bring me pics of the good version of the box.
This is one of my favorite seasons of The Simpsons! Hurricane Neddy, The Mysterious Voyage Of Our Homer, The Springfield Files, Mountain Of Madness, Brother From Another Series, My Sister, My Sitter, Homer's Enemy! And look! Region 2 is available for preorder And it's coming out eleven days before Region 1! http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/1015326/The_Simp...
(forgive my spelling) I saw in othr website that the order of the head boxes is Season 6- Homer, 7-Marge, 8- Maggie, 9- Lisa and 10- Bart...
I'm a sucker for weird complex boxes.
I didn't have fun with this season.
They just seem to get touchy when we display the non-limited edition packaging for some reason.

Why with the head-cases? Who thought that would be a good idea? They're flimsy, poorly held together, and all around just a bad idea. I'll probably stick with them until the 10'th season or so. Nothing past the 11'th for sure.

Time untill Tom is asked to take down the images for copyright reasons Fox didn't think through...10...9...8..
The tenth season will be my last season.
I think the last episode of the 10th season is the episode where the family goes to Japan.

I hope they use heads for the rest of the seasons up until the show, if ever, ends. It's a neat idea and gives otherwise boring box sets a fun twist. Of course this set will be purchased, just got to keep up with them and if their not on sale, they can get expensive.
Even after all these years I think the quality of the show has been maintained. Sure, like any sitcom, some episodes are better or more inventive than others. I haven't watched an episode yet out of the 15 years its been on that I didn't laugh at least a few times.
So Fox can churn them out as long as possible. With a revolving door of writers and ever changing world political or moral climate, there should be plenty of material to keep it going for a while. Hell, even if the cast gets too expensive, fire them and get imitators. You can't tell me that they couldn't find someone out there who sounds like Bart. They've done for just about every other cartoon, so what's the BFD?

Kaya that aint anal thats totally understandable dude, lol, I gotta buy all the seasons to the shows that I watch, I bought Tom and Jerry volume 1&2 and felt inclined to get the other two sets to make sure the collection was complete...i have to agree with some of the people here...its a required buy including the future sets, even if some of the seasons may not have been that great, it sure beats the rest of the animated stuff
And Futurama is making a comeback as well...HOORAAY!

The only thing that prevents me from owning all the television series I want on DVD is money. I mean, honestly, you have to have a lot of extra cash to own all your favorites on DVD. Right now all I buy is Curb Your Enthusiasm, LOST, Scrubs, Family Guy, and The Office. I couldn't afford to start another series, and I'm one of those people who cant just buy a couple seasons and have an incomplete collection. I'm anal like that I guess.
The cover is adorable!!!!
I'm sure they'll get to Bart and Lisa, and maybe even Ralphie (wishful thinking...), God knows they got enough seasons.
I'll definitely be getting this one, although, it would take me a while, just got my copy of the second season...
Even a mediocre episode of the Simpsons beats the best episodes of most TV shows that are on right now.

this'll prob be the last simpsons season I buy... at least at full price
John Waters is on the commentary
This one has the John Waters cameo?... SOLD. (as if I wasnt going to buy it anyway). They should have asked him to do a commentary track, I'm sure he wouldnt care. Looking forward to the Mommie Dearest commentary.
Well, I hope they do the alternate box. I don't really care for the nasty plastic heads.
All of them. I'll buy all of them. Dips in quality aside, it dumps over every other animated comedy going. Family Guy?! PAH!
This is a required buy for me. But I'm such a massive Simpsons dork that when the seasons start to suck, they may be required buys too.
im gonna get this regardless, ive started getting em and I aint stopping now, but I wonder when the R2 version is released...probably at least 2 months after this one
I kinda want to see this. It's already past its prime, but I'm pretty sure this season has the John Waters episode.
i just last week bought season three, which completed my collection of the current complete seasons, so i'm very very excited for this. in fact... i've been looking for any info on this for ages.. I woke up this morning thinking "hm, I wonder if today's the day?" and it was.
i know a lot of people are saying that this is the last set they'll buy. not me, I will have 'em all on my shelf.. and likely a shelf specifically dedicated to the simpsons. guaranteed any episode has a joke that is funny (even the new ones), granted some suck... but it's the simpsons, we should cut them some slack.
at least no one can say they're doing a botch job on these season sets.

As far as I'm concerned The Simpsons maintained a 'good' level of quality up until around 4 years ago. I used to still watch it before than even though it wasn't as funny, but imo, after the 350th episode (and a little before) the episodes were really bad. I recall an episode where they flew to london and eventually they just halted on 2 gay men kissing for about 10 seconds. I'm not insulted by homosexuality, but I didnt' think it was funny either. It was the first time I actually turned off the Simpsons despite loving it my entire life.
Recently though, with the return of some good writers and producers, the show has gotten off the ground again. I'm not sure how long it'll truely last, but atleast it's good (somewhat) again. There's still long gaps of silance when I watch it, but than again, nothing will ever touch those first 10 or 12 seasons...ever, again, in my opinion :\

What the f**k, August 15th? That's the end of summer. F**king Fox.
yeah, it seems a bit odd that it's not Bart or Lisa before her, but I won't be getting the limited edition head dvd. I hate the previous 2, mainly because the insides would keep falling out.
i await the Box Art.
i await the Box Art.
This is my final season. Show went way down hill after this one. And I wish they would make up their minds about the boxes....
I like the cover. But why Maggie? Why not Lisa before her?
WOw I am surprised I got first post, I am GONNA buuy this for sure simpsons rock, however I dont much care for the head boxes hope there will be an alternate box
