Hm, they have done alternate box arts for these sets in the past. Since this is a "Limited Edition," will there be another boxset? I preferred those to the head shots anyway.

Yea, I saw this a while ago. I thought it would be the standard version.

yeah i prefer the regular ones too. but from that image, these seem to only be slightly embossed so there might not be a need for two sets of boxes. cant tell for sure without an angle shot but it doesnt seem to stick out too much so it would probably easily fit between the other regular boxes.
but woohoo finally...its almost been a year since they released season 10....think we'll be lucky enough to get season 12 by year's end or early 09?

Here is what appears to be the alternate "non-limited" packaging for Season 11 (From Amazon) which I kind of like better. I was getting pretty tired of those "limited" embossed heads.
I wasn't going to buy any season past 10, but the Crusty head is giving me second thoughts...

just a word of warning, that "non-limited" artwork is the australian artwork, so there is no guarantee that it will be the same for the USA release

good to know, but it at least shows us that there is indeed two different boxes so thats useful for those of us who dont want/like the collector versions.

Well Fox US sent it to me, so I'm guessing it's also the artwork for the US release

Season 10 was the beginning of the end of great Simpsons episodes I still bought it for the last episode Phil Hartman was on.
Without Phil Hartman and a lot of the old writers the show lost a lot of it's heart, I can't remember one episode from Season 11.
Season 4 was the best (with Conan O'Brien on board)
I think owning the first 10 seasons is enough for me, I'll pass.

Completely agree, and this new box set scheme seals the deal for me. NO SALE!
Interestingly it doesnt say the complete __th season anymore. Why? Because there is stuff cut out of these episodes!

referring to the homer artwork, not the krusty artwork

I love The simpsons and will probably pick this one up. I have all the seasons, the movie, the video games, and the soundtrack for the Simpsons movie so this will go great with my Simpsons collection.

They actually do use the word "complete" in the alternate box art. I think it was simply a design choice to not use the word on the Krusty packaging. I seriously doubt there was a conspiracy between the graphic designers and Fox to exclude the word because they cut things from the show.

It is about damn time. I'll keep buying seasons, but I only bought the heads when the first one came out and there was no choice yet. I thought the heads were gonna stop though and they were going to switch up the art every 5 years? I mean...having the 5 family members makes sense, but just random characters now?
"Can't sleep, clown will eat me."
There were some real good episodes - Funzo; the one with Parker Posey; the Tap Dance episode - and some episodes I'm not a fan of/loathe - that don't come to mind at this moment - but I'll definitely pick this up just for one special reason: Simpsons Christmas Boogie in 5.1 surround.

Funzo is season 11? jesus....time flies. it seems more recent than that. and sadly that happens a lot with this show, i'll buy a season and go "omg, so and so episode is THAT old?" lol

My roommate just put on a random disc and it had the episode where Sideshow Bob is building a dam...I couldn't believe that was the 8th or 9th season.
Season 11 has some goodness-
Beyond Blunderdome (Homer and Mel Gibson shenanigans)
Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Homer (Homer as a food critic)
E-I-E-I (Annoyed Grunt) - Tomacco, can't believe this isn't from an earlier season
Eight Misbehavin (the octuplets)
Grift of the Magi
Mansion Family (monkey knife fight and box socials)
Pygmoelian
The rest of the episodes still have some laughs in them too.

I feel old now...anyways, it might sound weird, but where is Grandpa? Or Snowball? Or Santa's Little Helper? Or Milhouse? (I do remember seeing the animals as covers...anyways, a must buy just because I am a completist (sort of)...

Season 1? Really? I honestly can't sit through two minutes of those episodes.

I guess at the rate they're releasing these, we'll get to buy them all over again on whatever format replaces blu-ray.

is it really a blind buy if you've seen the show already or are you one of those who stopped watching back then? i know thats nitpicky but i'm weird like that. lol

I think one of the reasons this is a no brainer buy for me is the extras that never get seen or heard when they broadcast them. Also, I've noticed that some broadcasters cut a few seconds here and there for advertising and promos. Also, I'm sucked in now. Having all 10 seasons and the movie, why stop now? I've also been there since the beginning when they first appeared on the Tracy Ullman show. As crude as they were you could see the Groening genius coming through. I'm also a big Life In Hell fan as well as Akbar and Jeff. As always I'm looking forward to this release for the collection. I wonder if there will ever be a complete series box set. Of course at the rate they are releasing the season sets, DVDs will be extinct. But, if they ever do a series set, it should definitely look like the Simpson's house with Marge and Homer's cars, Bart's skateboard, Lisa's sax and a collection of pacifiers from Maggie. The title, Aye Carumba: The Entire Simpson's Series Don't Have a Cow Homer Sized Box Set.

yeah i know what you mean about the extra scenes, weve gotten so used to the syndication episodes that when the dvd sets come out we watch episodes we've seen countless times only to notice new lines or even sequences. its sorta fun. but i think the closer we get to today, the less we'll see of these. episodes made during the first 10yrs or so were longer than those made these days, so thats why they cut stuff for syndication. but since theyre shorter these days, there's probably much less cut if anything.
as for a boxset of the whole show man, i fear the day for a complete series collection. they're already at 19 seasons with season 20 coming this fall and there's no sign of it ending anytime soon. thats gonna be one big and expensive collection. lol

It would be a brave boy or girl who would double dip on a Simpson's collection just for the box!
But as Bouncy said, the simpson's shows no sign of stopping yet.
I too have all the Season sets and movie so again its a buy for me. I want to hear the commentary for Saddlesore Galactica. I actually prefered the Head boxes, it was easier to get the discs out than the folding set.
