TV Shows on DVD had a story about this last week too. They had gotten the art from Amazon and were looking into whether this is real or not. I'm assuming it is.
is it gonna be another cover like the krusty one? where his face is going to be plastic? i certainly hope so....
I don't know if I'm gonna get this. I've gotten all the other ones, but this was around the time they really started to slip. But then again there were some pretty good episodes in this season. And that artwork is great.
Season 9 was the last great season, I bought season 10 which had a couple of good episodes but I'm not buying anymore...they lost a lot of their best writers and it really hurt the show.
I hope they continue with the plastic heads, I have all of them...they sit along Target's Iron Man and Batman's blu-rays...
Well the show may have dropped in quality but it's still obviously doing well enough to stay on the air for 20 years. As far as I'm concerned, every season has their hits and misses. I'll gladly see these through to completion.........whenever that may be.

Agreed. Haven't touched the plastic heads so far though and don't intend to start with this one. Hopefully the next one will have Mo on the cover.

Great cover
Unfortunately, seasons 12-14 are the worst the show has ever been. So, I'll probably Netflix these seasons just for the commentaries, but it will be awhile before I start buying these sets again.

Love the cover though!
Season 12 was ok. There were some season recently (I think it was 17 or 18) where almost every episode was a 3 story structure like Treehouse of Horror. There was Bible Stories and that one with Hamlet. It just seemed like the writers couldn't come up with anything original so they just turned to the Bible and Folklore and Shakespeare; like when Family Guy did that boring Star Wars episode and then tried to compare it to the Robot Chicken one. Seasons 19 and 20 are way better now.
It'd be funny if someone unfamiliar with The Simpsons (as if there is such a person) picked this up thinking it was a superhero cartoon and being very disappointed when the guy on the cover isn't even in any (or only a few) of the episodes and it's not, in fact, a superhero cartoon at all.
I'm into The Simpsons for 11 box sets and I don't see a reason to stop. They usually have decent exras and cool artwork. I wonder if they will ever be able to release all of the seasons on DVD if the show ever ends. This season certainly has been better than recent ones and as long as the same standards continue I cannot forsee an end in the immediate future. Cool cover art. I imagine every major character will get their chance at a cover.
I must complete the series till the end!!!
and im a huge fan of the simpsons, family guy and south park... =)
so i'll get every single season that comes out on DVD
so yeah, i'll be picking this up!!!!
GREAT! well not so great that we dont have a date! =(
family guy's season comes out on june, so i guess this will be coming out around that date...

I just hope they don't give us the same c**ppy accordion-style packaging that we got with the last release.
Do I spy Matt Groening on the side of the cover? Might wait as I did last time and get a bunch of these all at once. The commentaries are pretty solid, I wish more voice actors were included though.
Ah, I love that cover! Comic book guy has always been a favorite of mine.
awesome cover i cant wait to to pick this up on day 1!!!!!!!
Supes78.......I couldn't agree more. The season 11 packaging is horrendous. I own all the head packages, including the Krusty package for season 11. Mind you the front wasn't glued on and the head was removed as soon as I opened the package. I've set it aside and put the package itself on the shelf. I'll probably glue it back on when the season 12 head package comes out.

man, i fear to even contemplate how expensive a box set of the whole series would be. lol

I agree. I didn't buy season 11, hoping it would get rereleased. (Like Season 6 that wasn't available as a regular set at first, then they created a box once they realized that's what people wanted.)
I will be stopping with 11, so 12's release doesn't mean much to me, other than seeing how it's packaged. I want to see that Fox went back to the DVD packaging they've had from the beginning of the series.

I'll bet that the next cover will be Skinner, Millhouse, or Apu
they always put so much effort into The Simpsons boxsets, it shows Matt Groening loves his show
The show really started running out of steam by this point - what was fresh and inventive to start with became routine and eventually tiresome. There's only so many times that rearranging letters in a sign to give a slightly anarchic reinterpretation or having Homer do something over and over again can be amusing.
They're only keeping the show in production just to pass the line that will mean that it's the longest-running comedy in history. They'll turn off the life-support machine after that.

Must.....Buy.......Boxset!!!
I have no hesitation adding this to my Simpsons collection. Ok the quality waivered somewhat with these later seasons but its still a lot funnier than most so called comedy shows. And its great to see they are keeping up the good special features, the commentaries are great fun. Also its nice the illustrated commentaries are back again. I thought they were a nice touch actually seeing the animators draw onscreen.

Amazon has a photo of the plastic cover!
I just wish they'd release it in Blu-ray too. They need to start releasing the seasons in blu-ray. Even if they aren't in HD you could still have more episodes on one disc.
