YEAH BABY! Season 6 on DVD is just around the corner. God I've been waiting. 2 a year isn't enough. Season 6 and 7 are some of the best, so these are the jokes.
Fantastic news!
Good! I wish the seasons came out bi-monthly because everytime I get the new season, I get hooked again and want more.
YES!!!!!!!!! but I was hoping it would come out in june
Let's hope we have season 7 by march 2007 then
These were once the best seasons out there bacuase every episode had comentary. But now only some have them....shame on FOX
Which ones don't have?
I thought this was coming out on june 14th?
Yes!
This is the season that included the first part of "Who Shot Mr. Burns?", isn't it? We should probably being some good extras, if it is, like that one special done by "America's Most Wanted".
Argh. Season 5 just comes out in France this month... I think we can wait till christmas for season 6...
I stopped buying these after the third season since I don't hardly watch the DVDs because they're constantly on TV.

Which bizarro world version of The Simpsons season sets did you purchase? Every episode I own in every one of the five seasons released so far have contained a commentary track.

Still no cover for Season 16? August 16 seems too damn far away.
Artwork added!
cover art
I don't get it.

i love this cover!! it EFFIN ROCKS!!!
Box art!
Man, I've been waiting for this set for so long, but that box art is the ugliest I've seen by far. Seems like they just got lazy regarding artwork. I really hope this thing will look better in front of my own eyes than it does with this picture. Oh well, I'll buy it anyway.
Damn, kinda inconsistant. And that will probably look horrible on a shelf. Doesn't even look like theres any spine-text or art. I wonder what the insides look like.
I love the Simpsons but not enough to plunk down the money to own every season on DVD. I agree with some of the earlier posts... its on free TV all the time. If I was seriously collecting each season, I would be seriously pissed with the novelty packaging. That type of crap just doesn't look good on the DVD shelf. It may be that I am anal retentive, but I prefer consistency.

Of course there's no spine-art! This is the outer shell of the box set.
The actual normal DVD box set is inside this one.

......
I think it looks cool. It's a nice little incentive for people who don't collect the seasons and a nice bonus for those that do.
I'll be buying it regardless.

I was thinking the exact same thing... On both accounts.

Yeah, it's for sure like the Star Trek sets with an outer box with normal inside. You can even tell ther's a box inside from the shape of it. I like it.
Commentaries=delay
If there wasn't going to be commentaries on every one of the episodes, the sets would be coming out every 2 months. It's the time it takes to record the commentaries and to get the schedule to work because they're busy doing new episodes for the new seasons that makes the wait so long for the sets.
I like the box, it reminds me of those special packagings Happy Meals came in in the early-mid 80's.
well the waiting isn't long anymore, last year they released 2 seasons like every other show and it seems they will be doing the same this year.
as for the cover, it's cute and all but they should have done this from the start instead of ruining the "continuity". some people are saying the normal box is inside that but i dont know. i worked at a dvd warehouse and got to open just about every type of box set imaginable and when its cases like these, it's either only the discs or a simply crappy case inside.
the original star trek is a perfect example, inside those capsule like cases was this tiny cd type casing for the discs. i'm pretty sure it'll be the same or similar for this simpson's set as well. it's too bad because i liked the fact they were consitent with the box art and they truly looked like part of the same collection. most tv series on dvd have completely different art and/or style for each season.
if i'm wrong and the regular box IS inside then fine, but i just really doubt it by the shape of that homer head and it's spine.

I contacted TVshowsondvd and they said that it will not open up and contain a box that matches the previous five. Now, start yelling and telling me I'm wrong. Seasons 6-10 will be this way aparently, but with different characters.
