Of course there's no spine-art! This is the outer shell of the box set.
The actual normal DVD box set is inside this one.
i hope so because i want them all to match up on a shelf

I hate this. Sure, it looks freackin' awesome, but now, in two thousand years, when the show has ended and I have each season on DVD, they won't look all pretty next to each other! I would have loved consistancy. But then again I'm pretty anal.
that is crazy
"What in the Hell is that Yellow thing?"
ANNOYING.
Don't the DVD studios realize that people want consistency? Whatever you start doing, you have to finish. Unless I'm surprised to find the normal DVD set inside that matches the other FIVE, I'm going to be pissed. I have so many DVD's and this is going to look like shit on my shelf.

Terrible, inconsistent cover.
NO...NO....NO. Why can't they be consistent with the previous seasons. The artwork for them was terrific! I hate this new look
My guess is that sales are slowing down with each subsequent season. This packaging may be designed to create better shelf frontage. I also agree with other posts that the existing box design may sit inside this plastic shell.
This cover sucks, and it doesn't match the current box sets out at the moment. I don't know which is worse, those horrible Original Star Trek boxes or this one ???
Well it doesn't look too bad and this cover will be something to give the kids if they have the real box inside which is like the other dvds.....
WHAT?!
why change the box style now? this is NOT going to look good beside seasons 1-5...

Yeah, I really hope that the folks saying that this is just an outer shell with the regular box inside are right. Otherwise, this SUCKS.
Still excited aboutt the show though.

The cover art is okay although Homer looks completely bald now however I liked the artwork they had been using. It was perfectly fine! Sheesh. This bites.
I'm not liking that cover very much. I hope there is another option.

There most likely won't be, Eli.

it sucks for people like me that work at a store like best buy to put crap like this on the shelf. why can't they keep things simple. a box. thats all.
Specs added...
Don't care for the cover either, but I guess I should be happy they're at least releasing them still. Seems like it takes forever though. At this rate by the time they get them all out on dvd, we'll probably be on whatever format comes after hd-dvd.
As for the people who say they can get them free on tv, they cut out parts of the episodes for syndication. So what you're getting for free isn't the entire episode anymore.

Dammit! Still that gay cover. Someone should be fired for that.
Email
Why don't people start bombarding FOX with emails about the displeasure with the box? it has worked before... There should be the option of the funky one and the regular box.
I guess I'm the only one to like the box.
Who wants to bet "A Confession from Matt Groening" relates to there not being commentary on all episodes anymore?

This is the best season. I love every episode of this season.
Why is the word gay used in a negative context, when describing something that is not good?
I'm more pissed at the lack of commentaries on some episodes than the bad packaging.
Box art and commentaries
Well to tell you the truth, I don't mind the box. I am hoping though for there to be the regular box inside. I like it when companies design special cases (evil dead: book of the dead edition)
However, It's annoying that there aren't commentary tracks on all. Like come on, only 5 or so don't have one. How much effort does it take to record five?

Amen on Fox's "alternative packaging" website taking little shots at "complainers, all those who fear change" and their requirement of "a solemn promise to stop your whining" once the new box is delivered.
I mean, "It won't look pretty on my shelf"? Really? Wahhhh . . sounds like something Grandpa would say. Might as well add "I'm cold and frightened."
Someone needs a good shaking.

commentary is on every episode as usual, and the seventh season will be out in december just like last year.
