I know this wasn't as groundbreaking as Inception but the familiarity of the story allowed me to care more about the characters, or atleast what they were doing and the reasons why, which gave this the slighter advantage. Indeed, best film of the year.

I dunno. I just couldn't bring myself to watch a film about the creators of facebook. Yes, I have a facebook page, but do I care who created it? No.

What a beautiful cover and a beautiful movie

The Social Network is my 2nd favorite movie of this year and it deserves that spot. Top notch in every department. My friends hated it. They said there was too much "talking" and that "we already know what happens". Sucks for them that they didn't get what this movie was trying to say.

However, Black Swan is still my favorite movie of this year. I really want DVDActive to announce that one.

WTF...No Combo Pack? Anyway, I thought this was a great movie, but it was one of those movies that I had to just see at a theater. It is very interesting to show a movie about the creator of Facebook, but it's not something I can just watch over and over again. Although this definitely needs to win some awards.

Co-sign this comment.  I don't have a Facebook page, nor do I ever plan on getting one.  I'm about as anti-social as they come.  By starting Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg and his cronies created a cyber Pandora's Box where too many people are airing out too much of their personal business on the internet and getting cyber-bullied.  Hell, the government is even using Facebook to track criminals and terrorists, so who's to say they aren't using it to track everyone else??  As far as I'm concerned, Facebook is Cyber-Hell and Zuckerberg is Cyber-Lucifer.  I already know about the "pros" to being on Facebook, like using it tracking down lost friends and relatives and all that good stuff.  But to me, the bad still trumps the good.  Just can't get with this whole social networking business.  Not Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, none of it.  It's cyber-paradise for all the attention w***es out there, but not me.  Just my personal opinion...

Now having said all that, maybe I'll still give the movie a shot on Blu-ray...

Terribly overrated movie about a bunch of conceited, uber-privileged nerds with rich parents who bought them anything and everything they wanted when they were little who backstab one another to get ahead. Who gives a c**p about that?

Terrible artwork for a great movie. Too many quotes, I much prefer the original poster artwork.

Fell asleep watching this so called "American Classic". I won't be buying, heck wouldn't even download it.. also is it coincidence that Zuckerberg is named TIME's Man of the Year??

Pfft - slow year.

I like the artwork. It stays close to the poster format which I liked.  I don't really understand the mentality some people have where they dismiss this as "a facebook movie" and won't watch it. Especially people who consider themselves film fanatics. If you can get yourself over the subject matter, this movie is a powerhouse of stunning performances and technical mastery. Then there is Reznor's score which is awesome beyond words. I could really go on forever, but the point is that if you are a true fan of cinema, you owe it to yourself to watch this sublimely crafted movie instead of dismissing it based on your own qualms with Facebook. It is kind of ironic really, since the movie has no affiliation with Facebook or Mark Zuckerberg, and doesn't glorify either of them.

with this being a fincher movie...does anyone know if a directors cut is on the horizon as well???  if memory serves me...didn't zodiac have a directors cut like a couple of months after the initial theatrical dvd release???

Excellent excellent film. Andrew Garfield is one to watch, he was just so good in this. And the score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross is hauntingly beautiful, one of my favourites of the year. Can't wait to pick this up when it's announced R2.

I know I'm being anal here, but...when they decided that the guy behind Eisenberg didn't belong on the blu-ray version (an already completely arbitrary decision), could they at least have gotten a guy to remove him who had even a rudimentary knowledge of how to use the clone / healing brush tools in Photoshop?  I mean, the color doesn't even match.  There's this ugly purplish blob right in the center because of it...and they still failed to erase some of the guy's neckline to add insult to the injury.  Seriously, I don't usually point out things like this, but...wow...

As someone already mentioned, I am in 2 minds about buying this as it is a David Fincher movie and the man loves his special edition DVDs! That, coupled with the feeling that The Social Network could sweep the Oscars means that I will hold of buying this for a couple of months to see if there is another release.

Still, the disc does seem to have some interesting special features, so it's up in the air as to whether there will be a more loaded disc.

The movie itself was excellent and my second favourite this year, behind Inception. It's amazing how the makers created such a rivetting movie on a subject that really doesn't sound exciting. Great movie in every department.

In non-related news, I am also excited by the fact that Criterion has bought the home video rights to The Game. Finally, the one movie that didn't get the "Fincher" DVD treatment will get some justice!
