Paramount Home Entertainment has announced DVD ($19.99) and Blu-ray ($29.99) releases of The Soloist which stars Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. Each will be available to own from the 4th August. Extras will include commentary by director Joe Wright, deleted scenes, and featurettes ("An Unlikely Friendship: Making The Soloist", "Kindness, Courtesy and Respect: Mr. Ayers + Mr. Lopez", "One Size Does Not Fit All: Addressing Homelessness in Los Angeles", "Beth’s Story"). The Blu-ray release will also include a Juilliard: The Education of Nathaniel Ayers featurette, and the theatrical trailer. Artwork is attached:

I thought this movie was actually pretty good. I enjoyed thoroughly. Not like I loved it as much as I thought I would (which was as much as "August Rush"

, but I will definitely be buying this movie.

I really wanted to see it, but when you dump a movie the last weekend before summer, it kind of gets blown to the side. I'll definitely rent it, though. Love RDJ and Jamie Foxx.

But would it kill them to put the correct name over the correct head?

This got a lot of undeserved hate, and a horrible release date. Sure it's a little Oscar bait-y, but I thought it was pretty good.

Loved the performance from Downey Jr, the cinematography and sound design, but I just can't bring myself to buy The Soloist. Everything about it was such obvious "Oscar bait," it took away from the expereince.

Actually, this was fair. But no way is it ground breaking to earn (win) any Academy Awards in this years Oscars. This was easily the worst Joe Wright film I've ever seen.

P.S Did one notice the differences between the DVD and the Blu-ray cover? For some reason the Blu edition cover is really widen up, fating up Downey and Foxx.
