Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced The Spectacular Spider-Man: The Complete First Season for the 28th July. The 2-disc set will retail at around $25.95. Quote: This adventure finds our hero tackling more Super Villains both old and new, including Chameleon, Venom and the Sinister Six: Electro, Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Sandman, Rhino and Shocker. While these criminals are almost more than Spidey can handle, his real struggle becomes an internal one. The stress is enough to drive a high school Super Hero over the edge, but making mistakes and learning lessons is all in a days work for the Spectacular Spider-Man!

I may pick this up; didn't catch any of it, but the previews were pretty cool and it's gotten ridiculously good reviews. Cool artwork as well.

this is a fun show. i used to watch when i'd wake up on saturdays (till they moved it to 7:30 in the morning). Nice kiddie incarnation of my favorite superhero.
will they ever release the spiderman Saturday morning series that aired on FOX in the 90's?

Hopefully Disney will release that soon, given the success of their release of the 90's X-Men series.

Why does Disney have the rights to the FOX Spiderman series?
I wish they would have a set for the live action series, 1978. I barely remember that.

Fantastic. I hate when a US animated series Id like to own is released on on full screen despite having been animated in widescreen

The 95 Spiderman series is being released on dvd, well the first Season anyway. God I loved that show, Chris Barnes was a great Peter/Spiderman. Looking forward to getting it.
I love this series, they finally got the witty banter that makes Spidey awesome. Can't wait to get the season set.

The same reason why Disney has the rights to the X-men series which also aired on Fox... Because they only simply AIRED on Fox. Fox had nothing to do with the production, they simply were an outlet.. a host if you will to present those shows at the time. Now if that Disney/abc merger had taken place a few years earlier.. Best believe it would have been very likely those shows would have been on ABC.
Anyway I highly enjoy the series. They add their little twists here and there, but nothing that would frustrate true fans.. They didn't b*****dize it the way the folks over at Smallville did with Supes...
I'll definitely pick this up.
Now it's just when Disney will decide to air the second season in the states.. Which has already been aired in its entirety in Canada...

This is a great show! Can't wait for Season 2 to start up this month!
I'm glad I didn't pick up the four episodes per disc releases.
I'm still praying that Disney will bring out Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends/Incredible Hulk hour!
