Paramount has now provided us with some retail artwork for the 2-disc edition

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced both 1-disc ($29.99) and 2-disc ($34.99) special editions of The Spiderwick Chronicles, which stars Freddie Highmore, Sarah Bolger, David Strathairn, and Mary-Louise Parker. Each will carry an anamorphic widescreen presentation and English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. The extra material has yet to be revealed for either release I'm afraid, but we'll bring you further details shortly. A Blu-ray release has also been announced, for which details can be found below. I actually found this film to be enjoyable. More enjoyable than "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events." Really enjoyable and one of Freddie Highmore's instant classics. I also will have to admit that this was much more fun than the last Harry Potter movie.

2-DISC IS MINE!!! Blu-Ray looks really good.

I was amazed at the fantasy creatures in this film. And even Freddie Highmore was such a charm in this one, just like what he was in "August Rush." Freddie Highmore is one of my favourite young actors alive.

"August Rush" remains Freddie Highmore's best movie and role.

I can't wait to see this movie. If only i were a kid again I think this would have been one of my favourites of the year. I can just imagine the kids who love this movie in a decade getting all nostalgic about the first decade of the new millennium and coming back to this movie with warm thoughts or find Bridge to Terabithia even better than they thought and discuss how the edning really shocked them as a kid.

...now I am getting nostalgic for the 80's. Wow they seem like they were so long ago.

The film is about a field guide... Anyway, I want bluray but I may settle for that 2 disc, As long as the font is toned down on the bottom, maybe turn it black then it would look a lot more promising.

It was nothing like Bridge. This actually turned out to be Freddie Highmore's second best movie. That and August Rush were his best films.

Jesus Christ, how freaking long can it take to move from HD-DVD to BluRay? Paramount and Universal are really getting into my nerves. Beside TV shows no more SD's for me.

You have to realize that many people are not like us, who like extras. I do think having to DVD versions (one with and one without extras) benefit people who only care about the movie...but don't do any good for the price (see my comment above)...

Again, in my ideal world DVDs should be:
-Single disc $7.50 (or even $5)
-Double disc $15.00

And for blu-ray to start getting some action, double-discs should be blu-ray only, and single discs should be SD...IMO...

Again with the stupid 1 disc and 2 disc versions. Almost every single week there are 1 disc and 2 disc editions. Like April 15 with Alien vs. Predator and Juno. April 8 will There will be blood and the Dewey cox story. April 1 with Sweeney Todd. march 25 with The mist. March 18 with I am legend.

The only reason why there's 2 disc is because the 2-disc is unrated.

Horrible movie, I couldn't take it after a while. No it's nothng like bridge either. That one child actor was trying so hard, it was hard to watch. Terrible actor!

I agree...it is NOTHING like BTT. Great source material, but I felt the movie fell a little short--rushed many story aspects to keep the movie about 90 minutes. I will still buy it; my son and I loved reading the books, and he will love watching the movie.

It's nothing like BTT besides the 'fantastical creatures' aspect.. I enjoyed this film, but I don't care for the artwork.

That cover art makes the movie look like a "Bridge to Terabithia" rip-off - which it is.

This looked really good. Will definitely Net-Flix it.

I'm not too crazy about the 'Nickelodeon Movies Presents' line within the title, though. Otherwise, everything else looks great on the cover.

I really really liked this movie. So cool and thrilling and fun and interesting. Great performance by Freddie Highmore. The rest of the cast does just fine too.

That's alright cover art. Could be way cooler. Looks too childish and kid-friendly when really the movie is pretty darn intense for the little ones.

I might buy it. It really IS good, guys. Fast-paced (everything actually takes place in about one full day) and exciting and just plain fun!
