Am I the only who doesn't mind this cover? Yeah, it's far from perfect. But I still love the movie and the cover isn't THAT bad. But I do agree, those custom DVD covers are great!
CANT WAIT FOR OCT. 21
Just got it today! Love it.

Again, let's stop b***hing about how bad the artwork is, and contact Universal and pressure them to change it... does anyone have an email address for Universal?

i agree as well, man he should get a job somewhere where dvd cover arts are made... and he'll definitely get the job... i'd buy ur dvd cover instead of the original... lol

The Strangers was frighting, It's a shame it suffered from to many cliches. Give it a rent.
How do we get Universal to change the artwork?
2 Movies in 1???
Please....ugh.

I LOVED this movie. I was totally impressed with it and what writer/director Bryan Bertino was able to do with seemingly so little. The lack of extras is a let-down (hopefully some stores with have exclusive extras) and the cover artwork isn't the greatest. Any of the posters would have been much better, or, I even saw a very rare poster that was like frosted glass with the male "Stranger" behind it but you could only see very little of him - it was very effective. That being said, I will pick this up. Highly recommended.

I thought this was pretty boring myself, good thing I didn't pay for my ticket. It had potential, but the characters just seemed lame and they could have done so much to help themselves which made them seem pretty stupid as well. pass.
Whoa. That's really awful cover art.

Just terrible terrible artwork. They need to either just use the poster where Liz is standing in the room with the guy in the room behind her, or the one where Liz and Scott are tied with their backs to us and the three killer staring at them. This is utter trash and makes the film look like a direct to video title. Deserves so much better than this. I hope they change it, but it will not deter me from picking up the Blu-ray.
Nice blu ray art.
Awful cover, still want to see the film though. It'll probably be very average but whatever.

Not at all impressed with this movie, as it offered nothing new or interesting. Kind of a shame, considering I can't remember the last decent horror movie to come out.
At the starting of this film it held alot of promise establishing the characters in a vague sense so you would be compelled to be interested however once the actual "mayhem" started occuring it felt like the typical low-rent fair of most modern slashers in that the suspense was quickly thrown out the window for cheapened jump scares and unnecessary violence, the director said his favorite film of all time is, "the texas chainsaw massacre" 74' I think perhaps he should go back and watch that film, maybe he'd realize his trappings and faults with this debut.
What a ridiculously bad cover. It's so cliched... The film's better than the artwork gives it credit for.
At first I wasn't too crazy about the artwork, and while I agree the posters are superior.
This really isn't THAT bad.
This really isn't THAT bad.
Terrible artwork.
Artwork is meh, but I admit I don't really care much anyway. I thought this movie was somewhat pretentious and affected....
Spoiler Right out the gate, I found myself growing bored as the film spent the first 20 minutes establishing the main character's relationship with each other. 20 Minutes?! - Come on, for this type of film, that's like the cinematic equivalent of waiting for your 79' Camaro to warm up on Chicago's coldest winter morning! It took way too long to get the real story going. At least half of that 20 minutes could have been cut out with no real impact on the overall story...I also thought the "suspense"-to-"scare" quotient was out of whack. I understand the concept of building tension, but this was a bit ridiculous. Some of those scenes just dragged on and on with minimal payoff. It did get better the closer it got to the end, but honestly - by the time the credits began rolling, the first words out of my mouth were "finally!"...and I'm pretty sure that's not the response the filmmakers and writers were hoping to generate....
And here's the short version of everything I just conveyed: "Ehh, it was alright. Probably worth a rental."

cover looks like something straight to video.
Disappointing artwork
i cant believe this c**ppy film is getting so much praise? why do you ppl always praise the bad films and criticize all the good ones? this movie was NEITHER good or scary at all. What you saw as tension or suspense i saw as predictability. this movie was not original in the slightest. this movie was this years Vacancy's twin movie, only vacancy was better. plus liv and speedman were pretty dumb in this movie, hard to feel sorry for them becuz of how they acted....and they acted dumber than your typical dumb horror movie characters. like speedman leaving his wifey in the house while he goes out and a load of other things. and like everybody mentioned the 3 weak villains were related to nightcrawler from the xmen.
The "2 Movies in 1" is sooo sad. Thats not 2 movies in 1 its just 2 diff versions of the movie.....shameless marketing ploy.

the cover is terrible. what ever happened with the eerie and great theatrical poster?
UNRATED for only 2 minutes? haha thats ludicrous
UNRATED for only 2 minutes? haha thats ludicrous
Quite a tension filled movie but not really that scary. Vacancy and this were quite similar, but Vacancy stood out to me the most. Will get this one for sure though!
Great movie - does a nice job of building up the tension....that long shot of Liv in the kitchen and the Stranger who just appears in the background is awesome!
I agree that the artwork is not as good as the theatrical posters but it's not really that bad. In fact I quite like it. The thing that disappoints me are the extras. But it does make sense. C**ppy movie. C**ppy extras.
LIKE I SAID. the artwork sucks!! it's lame
What an absolute horrid cover art!
Have not seen this, quite tempted to check it our, meh may be not...

Apparently, Universal isn't very clever when it comes to cover art. Why not use one of those classy theatrical posters?
Artwork added
are you kidding me? There were better home invasion movies than "The Strangers"...this was too predictable and Liv Tyler & Scott Speedman did some pretty stupid moves in this film....
That artwork sucks and is a bad representation of the movie (which is one of the best movies this summer and one of the best scary movies in a long time.) How do we pressure Universal Home Entertainment into changing the artwork to at least one of the movie posters (like the one of the closeup of the strangers in masks.)
ok for those huge fans of THE STRANGERS, and 4 those dying to see the artwork,
HERE IT IS... and let me tell u, IT SUCKS

Still can't wait for the DVD & I just got the original script and wish they would have included some of the scenes that were originally written there, but either left out or cut from the movie.
When's the DVD Art coming?/Im dying to see it.

Here is a brief synopsis:
Late one night, Lucas and Clémentine encounter strange events in their remote country home. It starts with prank calls and strange noises, but when the power is cut off and their car disappears, the terrified couple is trapped by the unseen force. Is it simply kids from the school where Clémentine teaches, or could it have something to do with a mother and daughter who mysteriously vanished the day before?
The Strangers is not a remake of Them. Many horror websites compared it to that film, but it is in no way connected to it. I forget which site it was (I believe it was Dread Central), but they had an interview with the writer/director and he said the two are not related. You may think he's covering up like Scorsese did with The Departed, but I doubt it. The two are barely similar anyway, as Fabricio De Zuasnabar said.

AWFUL film.
Bad script, terrible camera work and the acting was so lame. It made no sense as well.

NAH, i own 'THEM' and both films are very different from each one...
THE STRANGERS is way scarier, more suspenseful, got the chills, and doesnt involve (SPOLIER) "killer-kids"
i think it's more "realistic"

well, i dont think so, cuz at the beggining, we hear the boy saying there was a lot of blood and dead bodies, so we could easily say it could be protagonists, or the antagonists... besides (SPOILER) the stain of blood in the wall that we see, is not from Kristen or James...
but its allright man, it's ur opinion... lol

this looked like a good throwback to the horror/slasher movies of yesteryear.
heard a lot of good things so i'll have to pick it up.

By far the best horror/slasher film of the past couple of years, but that's not saying much...at all.
Good performances, good suspense, and great cinematography. I'll pick it up when it's $9.99 or so.

Tell me do you think strangers standing around doing nothing I mean nothing is scary. This material would have worked if the strangers 'did' something. Also the ending was total c**p. I'm not spoiling it but I will tell you that the ending comes at the beginning of the film which was a big mistake from the start. Sure 'The strangers' was creepy in some parts but I expected way more from the film. After seeing the spooky trailer and advertisements I was hoping for something... decent. I think the artwork will be 'spooky' because that's how the trailers/ads were and I think it will include a stupid label that says 'UNRATED AND THEATRICAL FILMS'. Then when people read the back of the film they say WTH just 2 extras?

This movie was dreadful. The killers reminded me of "Nightcrawler" from the X-Men franchise. They had the power to instantly teleport away.
im so anxious to see the art work
it says there, the single disc will include RATED and UNRATED... both in one disc...
so, i hope one single edition with one single art work, would be cool, so i dont have to choose between...

Saw this in the theaters, wasn't overly impressed, might check it out on BD, though, as it'd probably look very decent in HD, with DTS-HD, no less. I loved Glenn Howerton's (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) cameo. I lmao in the theater when Spoiler Glenn got killed, just because somebody shouted out, "Oh my God, they killed Dennis!"
Saw it twice in theaters, and loved it both times. It's one of the scariest and most suspenseful movies I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to buy it!
Not bad but the similarities to last year's (vastly superior)"Vacancy" were a bit hard to overlook...perhaps that's why this movie was shelved for a year?
I loved this movie & can't wait for the DVD, but I wish there was more to it like an alternate ending and stuff. I run the fanlisting (a site that's there to find out how many fans there are of something) for the movie, so fans come get listed if you'd like to let everyone know that you're a fan! http://fansite.awardspace.com/strangers
I loved this movie. It was scary and intense. I can't wait to see what's in the unrated cut. I hope the cover isn't red-tinted though, like a lot of unrated releases are now.
I loved this movie! I saw it in theaters three times. I wish it was coming out sooner, October seems so far away. Oh well, at least it's close to Halloween. I hope the artwork is good. I wish there were more special features... I'll be buying this the first day it comes out...
I really liked it. Will eventually buy it. It's no INSIDE though. Anyone who thought this was great should check that one out.
I liked The Strangers. Plus I agree I would take this over Saw anyday (the first one bored me and I gave up on it halfway into the film and never came back to it).
Such an enjoyable horror film. It's so rare these days for a filmmaker to actually try and inject suspense and atmosphere instead of falling back on buckets of gore. I'll take "The Strangers" any day over trash like the "Saw" series or any of the PG-13 atrocities.
Really enjoyed the movie... disappointed about the extras. I was really hoping it'd get a 2-Disc treatment since it did so well in theaters. (50-some million compared to a 9-mil budget). Meh.
I really thought it wasn't scary at all. It just relied on music to scare you. Plus the strangers were just standing there. The only time they 'did' something was the last 5 minutes. More like the dumbest movies I've seen. Although isn't it too early to announce 'The strangers'?
well, the ending wasnt the best part, but still, the whole movie was very enjoyable...
Yay! One of the best horror thrillers I've ever seen. Seriously creepy and freakishly terrifying. Great movie. I'd buy it.
:]
:]
I dont know how anyone can watch this over and over with such a junky ending.
AMAZING MOVIE! Saw it 3 times in theaters! The scariest movie ever! This is what true thrills, chills and scares are about it. VERY CREEPY. Staying home alone will never be the same again. Will buy this DVD the very first day it comes out, wish it had more features, but oh well.
Very meh movie. Might give it another try on Blu tho
OH MY GOD! i've been waiting for this release so much, and i knew they would release it on October... darn...
i saw this like three times i think... lol
i hope they come up with a good art work...
THE MUST OWN DVD 4 OCTOBER

A very creepy take on a slasher film. Loved it. Will be buying this one on Blu-Ray for sure.
Quicksilver girl... quicksilver girl... quicksilver girl...
im pissed that i missed this in theaters. I really wanted to see it
