That'll be an empty box.
Just wait - soon we will have the T3 ultimate edition.....
woohoo...
woohoo...
I'll stick with the OOP Japanese UE on this one - complete with embossed gold artwork and digipack

Certificate 12?! Okay, so that's TBC but still...
The R2 Benelux (MGM with Sony) comingout in The Netherlands on 30 September 2005.
A box with Terminator 1&3 is possible now Sony is the owner with MGM of the first movie, Terminator 3 is from Sony only. Terminator 3 is a 2 disc version and have DTS.
The first 2 version´s of Terminator (1 disc and 2 disc Special Edition) is from Mgm and Fox.
Terminator 2 (1 and 2 disc version with DTS) is from RCV. But the 2 disc version is our of stock or to expensive.
Terminator 4 (2006) is from sony only too.

You wasn't with Harry by any chance?
Wow... that looks pretty neat.
If only I didn't have four or five different versions of T1 laying around already...
C'mon guys, JC knew what he was doing. No offense to Mostow, but the original's a classic. T3 was a nice addition, but it didn't feel worthy of its lineage.
Although, to be fair, I saw this at a drafthouse in Austin and was shoving a burger and fries in my mouth the whole time, so maybe it's time for a revisit... It definitely wasn't as bad as it could have been. Chinadoll, anyone?

I would like to see this one in R1 also, dig the art work.

Me English not speak so good
As for the 'rot' (not that they were 'rotting'
, it was down to the chemical reaction between the packaging and glue that bonded the two layers of the discs together. MGM changed the packaging after all the complaints, so the re-issues of the set didn't have the problem.
I had the R4 release anyway, so never any problems. I later got the R1 release for the burned-in subs and original mono track (which is loads better than the 5.1 remix).

Does that certificate say '12'?
I'd assume it was very much 'tbc' at this point!

If any movie needs a rewatch, it's this.

Terminator Commentary
By reading this it appears that there is only going to be audio commentry by James Cameron on the deleted scenes.
When are we going to get the version of Terminator 2 with the James Cameron Audio Commentry? It's been out in America for quite a while now.

This was a good flick, but I have to say compared to the other two films I think that this is the weakest. Its still a good film but I perfer TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, and TERMINATOR 3" RISE OF THE MACHINES over this one.No way is T3 better than T1. Cameron's movies shit all over that pile of garbage. T3 was basically an unnecessary piss poor PG-13 remake of T2.

I may get it though if the AV is really that much better. I'm dubious about this as it was only remastered a few years ago.The original T1 SE was released in 2000 and DVD compression technology has come a long way since then. I hope they've used a damage-free print for this new transfer.
Still, I'll wait and see what they do with the R1.

How much more can we possibly want to know?
This is a question I'm frequently asking myself regarding these ultra-ultimate-special-last-one-we-promise-you editions. I mean, the Region 1 Special edition I have has a great doc, the deleted scenes, lots of little easter egg interviews and a top notch transfer.
What else are we, the ravenous DVD buying public, going to need? Yet another new transfer? Guys, the film was a 1984 cheaply made little knock off sci-fi B movie (how little they knew back then). There's a limit to how much better they can make it. DTS? The original mix was in mono! Any DTS track is going to be a new one made by some guy in a recording studio with too many sound effects and sound cheesy as hell.
MGM, let it go. We're done. We don't need any more. Take the money you wasted making this and plough it into a new film.
Any takers on me pursuing this same rant again in 3 years time? :-D
John

OMG Steve you reckon T3 is better than Terminator? Don't get me wrong T3 is good but very, very weak in comparison to Terminator (or Terminator 2). It maybe old but that doesn't stop it being powerful.
You have a point on the effects (it is over 20 years old) but the plot certainly is better than T3.
"I wonder why they never release a trilogy box set? Is it because all 3 movies are different studio companies?? (MGM, Artisan and Warner Bros.)"
Yes. They did release a box set of Parts 1 and 2 though (in the UK anyway).

-MFDOOM- Double check. It has TWO new documentaries currently exclusive to this set.
It's also going to be remastered so easily better than the R1 or R2 JP (which also has DTS) BUT and this is a big but the R1 has the original Mono soundtrack before they added new foley effects. Hence it's hardly ultimate!

Yeah, you're right. I read it over too fast. Oh well, on the bright side I already have this

THE TERMINATOR (1984)
This was a good flick, but I have to say compared to the other two films I think that this is the weakest. Its still a good film but I perfer TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY, and TERMINATOR 3" RISE OF THE MACHINES over this one, basically cooler plots and effects. And in the second one you get a kick ass Linda Hamilton as well.
There is only have a special editon of this in R1 that I think is identical to the special edition released in R2. So, this is probably a new one which will eventually get released in the states. I have the special edition and will most likely not double dip. I am pleased with what I have.
I love this cover....I wonder why they never release a trilogy box set? Is it because all 3 movies are different studio companies?? (MGM, Artisan and Warner Bros.)
...
Exactly. And it's always the easy-option releases, the ones the studio KNOWS the sci-fi geeks will always opt for.
I'll stick with my "now not-so Special Edition", thanks.

Thing is, the last version was decent so u have to wonder if its worth the upgrade. I mean there's only so many times u can keep buying these movies.

Sounds good. Now if R1 would get one.
Hmmmm...not sure how to feel about this one. Although a james cameron commentary is pretty tempting.
awesome!
that's awesome! now...when does R1 get it??? or do we already have this and i live under a rock so i dont know that we do?
