Looks better in a blue case! Now wheres my King Kong with DTS HD Universal?
That cover art works PERFECTLY with a blu case.
I must be dreaming.... 'THE THING' on Blu-ray™ AND on my birthday??... Awesome.
Already got it on HD DVD, so I won't bother with this unless my player breaks (which considering I hardly use it compared to the BD player, should be a while from now).
what? they didnt include the feature length making-of from the DVD special edition? thats just rude, didnt the HD-DVD have it?

Still, I'll keep my DVD -- I don't like how Universal keeps doing that. I like video commentary, but I usually will prefer to watch documentaries and whatnot separate.

ohhhhh...well thats good but yeah, so this means if i wanna watch it, i have to watch the movie itself and turn that on? thats just plain ol retarded.
i purposely waited to buy it on dvd because i figured a special edition would come, then why i found out about that...i decided to wait for blu-ray....and now its finally hear and look at that...b*****ds. lol

That artwork is beautiful.......especially alongside the blue Blu-ray case. Great movie. A must buy!
What I wouldn't give for "Big Trouble in Little China" on BD, remastered with DTS-HDMA...drool...
Great movie, I'll be buying this eventually.
Fantastic! A Must Buy!
Where are all the features? Who the hell is making these decisions over at Universal? The 40 Year Old Virgin HDDVD had all the features from the 2 disc DVD. The Blu Ray has only the features from the single disc unrated version. Strangly, the Knocked Up blu ray seems to have all the features from the 2 disc DVD, while the HDDVD only had the ones from the single disc version.
Land Of The Dead has all the feautres from the DVD, but Dawn of the Dead and The Thing have none of them (except commentary's), even though the HDDVD versions had all of them. They did the same thing with The Scorpion King as well. HDDVD, same features as DVD. Blu Ray, no features.
Come on Universal, do these Blu Rays right!

Agreed. I refuse to buy a blu ray if it doesnt have all the features found on the dvd...just flat-out refuse.
Cover looks great as a Blu-Ray
I'll keep the HD DVD, the idea have having to f***y around with the U-Control to watch specific features annoys me somewhat.

yeah i dont get this whole "interactive" idea for movies. most people just wanna watch their movie and see the extras as a seperate thing, hence why they're called such. i realize extras are rarely if ever watched more than once but id hate to have to watch the whole movie again simply to see something. especially with this new PiP trend where the extra stuff is in a small window in the corner and only pops up sporadically.
i realize this new high def stuff allows for things like this but to quote Ian Malcolm from Jurassic Park...
"..they were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should"

Come on Universal, do these Blu Rays right! This is all wrong. Virgin Blu has all the 2-disc features, but the DVDActive post contains generic names for them. The Thing and others have all the bonus features integrated into the U-Control track but that's just the only way to view them.

Oi, don't blame us, that's how Universal lists them.

Man, I am SO happy they went with the original cover art on the Blu-ray (as opposed to the crummy photoshopped art from the anamorphic DVD release). I adore this film, and I just had to replace my original DVD version for the anamorphic enhancement alone, but I've missed the original poster art ever since. No-brainer, first day purchase for me. Can someone go into more detail about the U-Control thing, though? "Terror Takes Shape" is one of the best making-of docs I have ever seen. Does the fact that it's embedded in the U-Control function mean I have no choice but to watch the entire doc in a PiP window while the feature plays full screen? That is absolutely ridiculous if true. Is there no option to make the PiP screen full screen for things like this? And what if the documentary is actually *longer* than the feature? Just curious how they'd resolve that.
