Welcome to Warner's world.
Welcome to Warner's world.
To me this is easily one of the worst films of the decade so far. Absolutely horrible, and not even in that FUN, so bad it's good way!
I can imagine the meeting - "So how are we going to ruin this movie cover this time? I know - let's put a big banner in the middle of it!"
Cage apparently was a huge fan of the original, and talked with Joey Ramone about it, who was also a fan. When Ramone was dying, Cage promised him he would do a remake, hence the dedication to Joey Ramone at the end of the film.
Ugly cover...
Nicholas Cage actually produced this?
I saw the original wicker man and I like how this stuck close but yet strayed from the original source. It is not as bad as everyone is saying on here but the original is better. I'll probably buy it but I hate that fire banner across the center.
i hate how they put "alternate ending" in the center of the freakin box.
The ending might have been too shocking for the test audiences and they wanted everyone to leave the theater happy.
well if the new ending is "shocking" than I guess I have to buy it.
don't they think people are smart enough to realize that if the ending was that great it would have been the original ending?

I loved the original. I own the extended two disk dvd in the wooden box. I'm curious to see why it was remade, so I think I'll give it a rent.
Didn't this JUST come out in theaters? Either way, it looked awful. Why did Ellen have to do the movie? Why?!
I think he meant seamless branching, which requires no user input.

Whatever, I'll be renting this since I haven't seen it.
i hate branching so much, I just like ot enjoy the damn film without having to press anything, I think it's nice for studios to have a dvd with both cuts than stupid branching

wow....another alternate ending for a pg-13 "horror" movie. Hope its as pointless as the alternate ending in "The Omen 666" so people will stop getting sucked in by this c**p.
I only saw the original like a couple of months ago, it was sublime!! and yes, how many more British contemporaries is hollywood going to remake and destroy?

i see about 60 films a year on screen , and this has my razzle award for worst film, worst than date movie, I actually was falling asleep during it.
LaBute's remake had some interesting angles -- the community's parallels to a bee hive, complete with queen and worker drones, for instance -- but it is far, far inferior to the classic original. Not a complete disaster, however, and it doesn't pull its punches on the climax, thankfully.
Way to ruin your already bad cover art with the "Shicking Alternate Ending Not seen in Theaters" Does anyone care? From teh box office numbers, I doubt that millions of people will rush to buy this.
Silent Hill cover rip off? Anyway, not that I care what they do from a marketing standpoint, but if you have a big name actor like Nicolas Cage wouldn't it be in your best interest to maybe put him on the cover? Hmmmmmmmmm? I would think so, especially if you're trying to sell this toilet ploop.
what an ugly cover. and that quote on the back makes no sense.... whats a "suspenser"?
Final specs and artwork added...
One of the worst films ever. This is the outcome when you remake classics!
The original was weird. Might watch the remake as I wait for Ghost Rider.
At its best, this movie was ok. Definatly would be better to watch at home and not with a crowd.

Hey, this is gotta be terrible, if someone who liked Grease 2 hates it (no offense man). I heard the original was good though, saw it for five bucks this week, maybe give that a try?
it was a good film
nothing special
but creepy at some parts

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I though it was a cruel joke then I found out it was remake. How does s**t like this get green lit?
Wow... another bomb is rushed to DVD in hopes of breaking even during the holiday season. Even Warner, who usually take their sweet time with releasing DVDs, are on a roll this year with their duds. Let's see, we got "Poseidon", "The Ant Bully", "Beerfest" and now... "The Wicker Man". Sheesh, all of these movies are being released 3 - 4 months after they hit theaters.
im not expecting much, but I will rent it out of curiosity.
I held out a small hope that Neil LaBute would at least have an interesting new spin on this movie, if not a brilliant one. But it was just horrible. It was somewhat different from the original, but in a pointless way. It was even farther from a real pagan community and I didn't really like what it had to say about the women. And forget Nicholas Cage's horrible acting, the girl who played Willow was actually a worse actress than Britt Eckland in the original and I thought that was impossible.
But I do believe that LaBute will do something better next time.

"SNORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE"
Cage had 2 great films last year (Weather Man & Lord of War) and 3 terrible movies this year (Ant Bully , World Trade Center, Wicker Man). My respect for him fluctuates more and more each year..
I didn't think it was too bad, the problem is people go in with high expectations and come out dissapointed. I didn't even want to see it (in the drive-in), but it turned out pretty good.
Oooo Lordy is this one for the record books...
After a solid job in World Trade Center, Cage is back to his old overacting ways again. Really...until you see him running through the woods in a bear costume (don't ask...no really, don't ask) screaming like a girl you haven't lived. And if you ever longed to see Cage punch several women square in the face and Ellen Burstyn wearing Braveheart make-up then this movie is for you.
A total wack-a-doo movie if there ever was one. And the "Epilogue" looked liked it was filmed the morning the film was released and rushed to theaters.
People...this movie reeks! And I'm hardly critical of anything! I even like Grease 2!

I hope people don't beat up LaBute too badly over this. I know he'll bring his A game next time so be kind people
pointless remake
