Universal Home Video has announced DVD and Blu-ray releases of The Wolfman which stars Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. Each will include theatrical (1 Hour 43 Minutes) and unrated (1 Hour 59 Minutes) cuts of the movie. As far as we know, the only extra material on the DVD release will be deleted and extended scenes. The Blu-ray release will include those, along with 2 alternate endings, featurettes ("Return of The Wolfman", "The Beast Maker", "Transformation Secrets", "The Wolfman Unleashed", "Werewolf Legacy, Lore and Legend"), a Take Control feature with Makeup Artist Rick Baker , Visual Effects Producer Karen Murphy-Mundell and Director of Photography Shelly Johnson, U-Control features, and a digital copy of the film. The Wolfman Blu-ray will also give purchasers an exclusive opportunity to stream the original 1941 The Wolf Man starring Lon Chaney, Jr three ways via BD-LiveTM, pocket BLU™ app and www.UniversalHiDef.com. This movie got a bad rap IMO. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The ability to stream the original is a pretty cool idea. Future releases should take note of this.

That artwork isn't bad, but the "The" feels very awkwardly placed in there, and unaligned.
An enjoyable if heavily flawed remake. Virtually all of the problems stem from lack of character development and a threadbare narrative, which this director's cut rectifies.

This film was soooooo terribly predictable. I predicted plot twists BEFORE I actually saw the film! This was very paint-by-numbers work, and demonstrated no reason to bother being made in the first place.

I am pumped for this and just like the hulk it seems universal is giving us ALL the cut footage on the blu ray. This is really awesome. Universal is getting better and better at releasing feature loaded discs. I cant wait for this

I do agree with most of the others here, despite its flaws, the film deserved a better reception than it got. It's definitely not as bad as the stuff shirted professional reviewers thought it was. First day Blu for me.

gah, I guess Ill be downloading this for free. Bluray is DVD's last grasp to keep the physical format market, I don't see it sticking around long enough to blow so much money on it.

Not only is Blu-ray not a "last gasp to keep the physical format market" (this is 2010, not 2007 so don't buy into the fear mongering from teh interwebs), the standard DVD format itself isn't going away anytime soon, either, due to it's decade-plus installed user base. You'd be surprised how many people out there actually prefer physical media to digital media, and when consumers speak (with their money that is), the industry is quick to fall in line or risk losing the bigger profit.
A little advice: do some homework before you start drinking that flavor of Kool-Aid, dude. Not only is Blu-ray not a "last gasp to keep the physical format market" (this is 2010, not 2007 so don't buy into the fear mongering from teh interwebs), the standard DVD format itself isn't going away anytime soon, either, due to it's decade-plus installed user base. You'd be surprised how many people out there actually prefer physical media to digital media, and when consumers speak (with their money that is), the industry is quick to fall in line or risk losing the bigger profit.
I have not seen it but artwork looks good and Hopkins and Del Toro are in it so I hope it is not that bad. Richard Roeper liked it so it must be decent.
I was really looking forward to this, but I didn't really care for it, the CGI made it completely unbelievable. And I don't think an unrated director's cut could really have added a whole lot to this movie. But I could be wrong. I was very disappointed by this movie overall.
Cannot wait for it since in my area it was in and out of theatres rather quickly. It's cool that it comes with the original as well even though I already own it.

Shame that in a few years their TV will be considered old when a new 3D format becomes more available, eventually without glasses, then we will have "format" wars all over again.

The cover is actually not bad. It comes from the theatrical poster actually. The blue spine kills it. We get it "BLU-ray" but the color just doesnt cut it.
i'm with Primogen18 (but maybe for a different reason or not). i'm F'ing tired of us regular (and apparently low life, not to be bothered with) DVD'ers who get shafted all the time now regarding bonus features. i admit i don't have the extra $$$ to buy a BR player and a HD TV. so yeah, i'll be downloading this for free. the shame is i actually WOULD have bought this if the important bonus stuff (alt endings, featurettes, whatever) were on the regular DVD.
I'll watch this movie again even though I think it could have been developed out more and I hope the unrated version fleshes the film out.

Well, of course over time it'll be replaced. That's the eventual path of everything when you're talking about the business of consumerism, particularly anything in the technology field. I'm just saying it's going to be around for awhile yet and I don't think digital media is going to be it's immediate successor, at least certainly not in the forseeable future. There's still too many issues with accessibilty and quality...Your argument about 3D, however, is a valid one in my opinion. That's why I'm not even planning to get on that bus. Not sold on the hype. I didn't care for Avatar as it was, watching it in 3D will only serve to provide me with a TITANIC-sized migraine, sorry Mr. Cameron...And the 3D gaming "revolution" that's coming? Psshhh. Count me out. That's not how I want to play my games, thank you very much. I will "retire" from videogaming if the day comes in my lifetime that 3D is the ONLY option!....ehh, okay, rant over.

That's a whole 'nother argument right there, but suffice to say I actually agree with you completely. It doesn't affect me as much because I was an early Blu adopter so I rarely even buy DVD's anymore, but I know a lot of people - no, MOST people - still do so I sympathize.

I don't think 3D will ever catch on in the home environment. It needs a big screen. Bigger than any screen the average household is ever going to have in it. As far as I'm concerned its just a gimmick to jack up ticket prices and make higher box office. I can barely get through a 2 hour movie without having a headache or wanting to take them off.
I think it sucks that a lot of DVD releases these days are not getting as many features, but aim your resentment towards the studios for making that call instead of at the format itself.

Whatever keeps Bernicio Del Toro from being Moe in The Three Stooges is fine by me. Do a sequel to this, a prequel, who cares?
Hated this movie. Hate, hate, hated it, it was so embarrassing even though the production aspects of it (set design, cinematography, costumes, etc) were amazing. The acting and pacing were just dreadful.
BUT -
With this Blu Ray release, with 15 extra minutes added in and a good amount of extras, which is weird since Universal usually stiffs their horror films, I might actually get this. Oh, and the original Wolf Man thing is almost irresistible. For 20 bucks, I'll get this first week. If the original Wolf Man deal is still available later on, I'd wait till it drops down to 13. Good job at buying me in Universal.

I mainly want to see it for two reasons. First, it's about the Wolfman (one of my fav. horror icons) and second, Emily "wish she was the black widow instead of Scarlett" Blunt is in it.
