Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced 1-disc DVD ($28.96) and 1-disc Blu-ray ($39.95) releases of This Is It for the 26th January. Extras will include a Staging the Return: The Adventure Begins Making-of Documentary, a Staging the Return: Beyond the Show Making-of Documentary, featurettes ("The Gloved One - Costumes", "Memories of Michael", "Auditions: Searching for the World's Best Dancers"), and the theatrical trailer. The Blu-ray release will include all that, plus a Smooth Criminal Vignette starring Michael Jackson which was to be shown before the performance of “Smooth Criminal” at the This Is It concert, a “Thriller” Vignette which was to be shown during the performance of “Thriller” at the This Is It concert, and a Making ‘Smooth Criminal’ featurette. What? I didn't really see why this is worthy of an oscarnomination in editing...
To me, the movie flowed straight through without taking me out due to a misplaced scene or frenetic fast-paced cutting. That to me is a sign of good editing... when you don't notice it.
