The DVD artwork is actually pretty good. I can understand Paramount re-using the re-release cover artwork for the Blu-ray artwork, but it looks cramped and the bluish tint makes it looks like fan artwork.
I like the DVD's artwork, but the Blu-ray is absolutely awful. It looks like they didn't have a big enough image to make it fill up the sides and it looks totally cramped in the middle. I'll have to pick it up anyway tho...
Still waiting for "Jersey Shore Shark Attack".
Hideous covers.
I like the Limited Edition cover better but this one depends on the price there are other ones That month that I will need to get
I'm not sure if I ever need to see Titanic again. I saw it in the theatre, had it on VHS (two tapes!) and now it's on TV once in awhile. The movie has burrowed so deep into the cultural consciousness, it's as familiar as Star Wars or The Godfather. While I think it's a decent watch, anytime I try to watch it, I'm sunk into a miasma of over-familiarity. Some movies are just too over-exposed to ever watch again. Not the fault of the film, though.
I for one will jump on this edition, unless we can have something similar to the UK limited edition, but I don't count on it. The features are, finally, what I'm hoping in a movie of that magnitude. If only other titles could follow suit like Avengers...
Hm. Apparently, Paramount confirmed to Blu-ray.com that the 3D version will be opened up to 16:9 (1.78:1), while the 2D Blu-ray and DVD releases will maintain the original 2.40:1 aspect ratio.
The 3D version of "Titanic" I saw was in 2.40:1, but that wasn't IMAX...

I will buy the 4 disc blu ray just for all the extras
wow, i can finally own the whole movie on 1 disc? it would be a little more impressive if it wasnt for the fact that original barebones dvd had it all together and its only the special edition that split it up but hey.
though its weird that the 3D version is still split, i guess 3D somehow takes up space or something? but i have no interest in that one so its all good. its doubly nice to see that not only have they ported what seems to be all or most of the dvd extras but they actually include them on both versions. so you dont have to buy the 3D package to get the extras like Transformers 3 and Pirates 4 did.
oh and that Titanic the final word thing played on National Geographic back in april, it was actually pretty interesting. they actually discovered stuff that is now incorrect in the movie, it was neat seeing Cameron realize that. lol

So the Blu-ray and DVD dispenses with the DTS 6.1 ES and Dolby Digital 5.1 EX audio that was on the 2005 DVD release... pooh. I really like the 6.1 mixes...
But at least the Blu-ray combo packs have the same extras...

Titanic again...Puhleeeeeeeze...Not only I didn't like it back then, two little stories related to the historical incident I've read recently made Cameron's version look even paltrier...
Is it just me or (speaking of James Cameron) does anybody else think The Abyss (literally) blows Titanic out of the water...?
I mean the theatrical cut, by the way...

some of the lines or all of them? :D
Titanic is pretty boring until it hits the iceberg. I couldn't sit through it again.

According to Walmart, Paramount will release a 2-disc DVD, 5 disc Blu-ray 3D pack, and a 5 disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. So there'll be plenty of extras on all releases.

Wasn't one of the documentaries from Disney?
Nevertheless, I woo hope for tons of extras. I'll wait as long as I have to if this means a "complete" set. Hell, maybe we'll get a limited edition where discs hold into a replica of the Titanic and in order to pop the disc in the player, you have to crush it with an iceberg... well... I think I'll give this idea some more time.

James Cameron doesn't work with writers, he always writes all of his own movies. He may or may not be the best writer, but you have to admit he's a hell of a storyteller.

Maybe they can even include Ghosts of the Abyss and Aliens of the Deep in it too. Doesn't even have to be 3D (although I did enjoy the 3D re-release).

Cameron wrote, directed, and co-edited both Avatar and Titanic. I agree with you about Titanic, much better than Avatar. It has some bad dialogue, but the movie holds up beautifully after 15 years.

I think the cover art should emphasize... The Titanic a bit more. I watched the DVD last weekend, in honor of the centenial thing. It's still pretty enjoyable.

The 3D conversion on this film was fantastic. There was great depth and there were some details in the movie I've never noticed before.
I find it odd that Paramount is waiting until September to release this. I expected a late June/early July release considering the fast turnaround these days.

I can't decide how I feel about James Cameron movies. He's a good director and a technical genius, but he just seriously needs to work with some better writers.
Shouldn't you warn us with a SPOILER ALERT!!!

I can't wait to finally own this on Blu-Ray! I hope James Cameron goes all out on the extras.
Never did own this on DVD. I think I like the movie just enough to buy this if I see it on sale.
