Nice!
Sounds like the beginnings of a good set.

I love this film. But i find it hard to believe the 5.1 track will be any good for such an old film.
Agreed. All these 5.1 remixes are pointless. DTS is especially overkill. Thankfully the original mono is there.
There were six films sitting on my Universal wish list for a long time. I resisted purchasing them because they lacked anamorphic enhancement. I would pass on a purchase with every wallet-emptying trip to my local Best Buy and Fry's Electronics but those days are behind me now:
1. Dune
2. John Carpenter's The Thing
3. The Sting
4. To Kill A Mockingbird
5. Psycho
6. Vertigo
The recent re-release of John Carpenter's "The Thing" sports a terrific looking image in very nice packaging (although the sleeve with the missing booklet bugs me) . We now know "To Kill a Mockingbird," "Dune" and "The Sting" are coming soon. Can Alfred Hitchcock's two classic films be far behind? I hope not! Now I hope that Columbia will get around to re-releasing some of the MGM titles that lacked anamorphic transfers.

This is definitely good news for me.

Yeah, that irked me a bit at first too...but what really gets me is the fact that when reauthoring the film to the new DVD that they didn't bother to put chapter stops back into the documentary on the disc or include the Morricone score on the disc either.

I do agree that a 5.1 track for a film such as this is meaningless. But I do believe that Deer Hunter should have one.
The Legacy Collections for the Universal Monster films must have been very successful. It looks as though they are following the package design with these new Legacy releases. I still prefer keep cases but this is still quality packaging.
Beautiful film. I may get this.
Again I like the cover but my comments about 'The Deer Hunter' also apply here.
I'll rent this. I haven't seen this film in ages.

Added a few menus.
YAY!!!
I am so glad I waited for a better release. Many times I contemplated getting the original disc, but then I heard that it was discontinued, so I figured there would be a re-release. And from the looks of those menus and the tech stuff, it looks like it will be worth the wait. Universal is also putting out a collector's edition of Mallrats on September 20 (apparently, I'm not sure) that will have tons of features. I don't regret getting the old disc, though. I had to get that.
I caught the last 20 minutes of it on T.V., that coupled with the AFI top 100 heroes/villains, i'll certainly pick this up.......

Awesome sig Matt, that gave me a chuckle....
