Quote: Brendan Fraser returns as explorer Rick O'Connell in an epic adventure that races from the catacombs of ancient China high into the frigid Himalayas. Along with his son Alex (Luke Ford), wife Evelyn (Maria Bello) and her brother Jonathan (John Hannah), he must stop a mummy awakened from a 2,000-year-old curse from enslaving the world. Doomed by a double-crossing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh) to spend eternity in suspended animation, China's ruthless Dragon Emperor (Jet Li) and his 10,000 warriors have lain forgotten for eons, entombed in clay as a vast, silent terra cotta army. When dashing adventurer Alex O'Connell is tricked into awakening the ruler from eternal slumber, he turns to the only people he can think of with the skill and knowledge to combat the undead: his parents. But the Emperor’s quest for world domination has only intensified during his imprisonment and, with unimaginable supernatural powers and a legion of Terra Cotta Warriors at his command, the Emperor Mummy could be an unstoppable force—unless the O'Connells can vanquish him first.

Grr... damn Digital Copy!
This movie was lame... but not as lame as The Scorpion King. Which, by the way, I'm surprised to see that The Scorpion King is not included in the box set.
I loved it - I love these Mummy movies. Total escapist entertainment.
this just looked terrible,
not like the series is hollow ground or anything...
but this just looked blahh.

They are cutting this movie up too? This was supposed to just be a 2-disc edition!! Well, I'm not giving Universal any of my money!! I'm buying second hand when it gets cheap. With consumer spending in a mess, hardly anyone will be spending almost $30 for one movie.
And of course, the c**ppy movies get the best damn looking cover the studio can muster.
I'm still not buying it though. I've been dead-set against seeing this film in theaters, but I can't help but be intrigued as to how bad it really is. It may end up in my NetFlix queue someday...

I won't be buying as I saw both "the Mummy" and "Mummy Returns". Both are terrible.

No I agree. If he had said the 3rd was terrible I would have been fine with it, but there is nothing wrong with the first two. So yeah, I think he is an idiot as well.
i was surprised by how much i liked it. it wasnt awesome or even great but it was a fun little ride. definately better than the 2nd one. took a bit to get used to rachel weiz being replaced but once i got passed that, good times.
i didnt buy the first two on blu-ray because i knew they'd make a collection set once this one came out so i'll get that trilogy set. i'm sure its simply the individual releases stuffed in a cheap box like Starship Troopers but hey, i like box sets. lol
oh and not that it makes a difference but that asian girl was hot and it was cool seeing jet li and michelle yeoh fight each other. i'm not a big asian cinema lover so while i'm sure they have at some point this was a first for me.
but i do have one minor nitpicky gripe....there's this book of spells and its all written in chinese and early in the movie someone reads from it outloud and of course we get subtitles. but then near the end someone reads from it again and speaks english as if its written that way. i'm anal, what can i say. lol

I would've wanted to see this movie, but since Rachel Weisz didn't reprise her role of Evelyn, I didn't bother. Personally I don't think it would've killed her to just do the third one, and be done with it. But I'd heard she wanted to pursue more dramatic roles and a few independent films. I'd like to see the one she was in recently "Blueberry Nights" I believe it was called. But still if the main cast was still intact I prolly would've seen this in theaters. I know they cast an older actor to play Alex, but that was necessary since the age difference wouldn't look right considering the timeframe.

granted these are all just rumors and stories we hear and read but....i heard that rachel was totally willing and ready to do this but then she saw the script and didnt like it so she turned it down.

I still need to get 2 and 3 on Blu. I hated the 3 but I have to complete my collection.
So yea, definitely not nearly as good and the first two, but I actually found some little enjoyment in it. Fraser was good as always and Jon Hannah still had some good laughs. Rachel Weisz was totally missed, but Maria Bello did a surprisingly decent job and seemed to be having the most fun. Will buy the 2-Disc to complete the collection though, it does sound pretty packed with extras.
I thoguht this was a lot of fun and I will go as far as saying it's the best in the trilogy. This is solely my opinion.

It's an opinion. Get over it and move on with your life.

This was boring as hell. I fell asleep through it 'cause it was so f**king bad. Now please, let me go to sleep.
I absolutely loved the 1st one.... tolerated the 2nd.... but the 3rd?
I'm about to be 29 next month and I had never walked out on a movie in my life.
All that changed, the day I paid to see "Tomb"...... (Uhhh, btw it was the "field goal kick" that finally did me in.)

The 1st was awesome. The 2nd was not so good the kid ruined everything everytime he was on the screen i felt the same urge as the the villians towards this kid ;-)
The 3rd was a disaster

I usually prefer classics over modern remakes when it comes to any movie, be it horror like Halloween, Frankenstein or a Film Noir or a classic movie. The Mummy is one of the few exceptions to the rule. I really enjoyed Mummy 1 & 2, found them to be escapist entertainment, action ala Indiana Jones-like. I found the original Karloff Mummy really dull and slow, even the Hammer remakes save for the Mummy's Shroud are pretty underwhelming. Even the Univeral Mummy sequels in the 1940s werent so good and I wonder how the Mummy, slowly moving somehow managed to catch up to victims running away. These Mummy movies took away the horror and put in action. Anyway thats my peace. If I like the 3rd installation, Ill get the 3 DVD set..
It would have been great if the internet had been around for the last 100 years instead of basically the last 10+ years to see how many people would have hated what are now considered classics. I say this because the Mummy series really is a through back to early days of cinema and how series like Abbott and Costello, Road movies and a lot of movies like The Mummy where the scripts were simply terrible but people went to see them because it was escapism at it's finest very much like todays series' are. I've said it before and here it goes again, not every movie is a homerun. Most are hits and some complete strikeouts. Watching baseball as I write this doesn't help the analogy but there it is. Most movies are simply made for entertainment. Sure, they insult our intelligence most of the time but they do play to the lowest common demoninator and therefore, you sometimes need to check your IQ at the door. I hope they make 10 more Mummy movies and I don't care how schlocky they are. Their entertaining and for $6 to $12, I ask, just how entertained to you want to be all air conditioned in a captains chair sipping soda, munching on popcorn and forgetting that the country is basically in the toilet right now and your bills need to be paid. I ask, how much?

Again, an extremely dumb but fun movie with subpar CGI. The action sequences would've been a lot more enjoyable if the editors strayed from the rapid-fire editing most action movies are prone to these days (as well as the shaky cam approach, which mars the beautiful cinematography).
And I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought Maria Bello was a capable replacement for Rachel Weisz. She looked nothing like Weisz, but I thought she made the character her own. Not to mention the first two "Mummy" movies weren't exactly high-class (or smart) entertainment.

I'll get Mummy 3 just to complete the trilogy. At least I liked it better than The Scorpion King and that completely unneccessary direct-to-DVD sequel/prequel Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior!
I'll give it a watch.
