I'm pretty disappointed that they didn't release the Director's Cut instead so I'll await the double dip. I mean, I thought we got past double dips for movies. I remember on when it was DVD, it was A HUGE transition. Bluray is a big transition but not as impactful as DVDS were. Blus should just be considered the special edition releases but seems like we're going to c**ppy barebones releases like DVDS once had and then eventually get a special edition.

I know what's with no Vista-series port over...........
Havent actually seen all of this. Will rent.
great film. great performances. good direction. Cosmatos was one of my favs yrs back.
I'm glad that Tombstone is coming to Blu-ray, but I, too, am disappointed that the director's cut isn't on here as well. I might wait for the double dip as well.
I absolutely loathe Westerns, but this is one of my all-time favorite movies. I don't think I can wait for the double dip, though, as I've been waiting for this for such a long time...
I've seen this & I can say that it's a good movie. Never seen the DC though. Is it longer than the theatrical Cut? Is it better?

From imdb.com:
Quote: A "Vista Series" director's cut was released in February 2002. About nine minutes of never-before-seen footage were restored The most noticeable are:
* a scene showing the depths of Mattie's addiction to laudanum and her jealousy over Josephine
* a somber soliloquy by Doc quoting Kublai Khan;
* a scene explaining Kate's sudden disapearance from the film, with Doc stressing the importance of friendship;
* a scene with McMasters and the Cowboys meeting one last time. A small scene showing the graphic result of that meeting has been re-inserted with the line "They got McMasters!" being moved into this small insert.

Director's cut does go some way to clearing up some of the aforementioned holes in an otherwise really good film.
I'll stick with my director's cut DVD until they can release a more complete package.

This and Armageddon were announced quite a number of weeks ago....although not an indictment of the site (it's still one of my favorites), I've noticed that the updates seem to be fewer and further between - and in some cases, later - than they used to be back in the day....speaking of which - holy c**p! I can't believe I've been checking this website every day for nearly 7 years now! Crazy how fast time seems to march on...
This is the best version of the ever popular Earps story. Not my favorite Western, but pretty dang good. Why is the house on fire at the end? There are a couple small plot holes. Val Kilmer kills it as Doc Holiday! "I'm your huckleberry."
Folks need to stay away from these kinds of releases so the corporate heads get the point that we are not going to make due with half-ass releases.
Can't bring myself to support this release. Tombstone deserves much better treatment on Blu-ray. Either release it with all the Vista Series trimmings or don't release it at all!! Let's get it together, Disney!!!
"Justice Is Coming!" The hell it is! I'm already tired of the blu-ray double dip. "Avatar" & now this. Why can't the Vista Series be released in a limited run? Do the studios need the money this badly? I'm not buyin' until somebody over there smartens the f**k up!
