Hmm maybe i'll wait after the 3rd movie
"FEI, Wal-Mart is supposedto have the IMAX version as an exclusive release. Meaning that it will aspect ratio change on the fly during the IMAX scenes ala The Dark Knight."
Yeah, I saw an advertisement and it said "The Big Screen Edition" and I was like, wth does that mean?! Plus it's ONLY 20 bucks! Definitely a good buy, even though I didn't like the movie, it'll look great on Blu.

WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR. Seriously, who approves of this movie? It was so awful! Michael Bay has no real talent in movie-making. 2 and a half hours of complete bullc**p. Theres no way in hell I'm getting this, or anyone else should. Don't even get me started on the artwork.....
Mega Collection, means that a 4 disc Collection ? In others words the 2 dis SE of the movies.
I'm hoping there will be a Steelbook release for this but I haven't checked into that. Steelbooks don't seem to be coming out all that often anymore! I think the only one I've purchased so far in 2009 was the Watchmen one on blu-ray.

Salvation and GI joe is not worse then Transformers 2. At least those didn't have robot testicles and a return of 2 jar jar binks+ mini robot binks
Yes Transformers 2 WAS VERY BAD!

2009 has been the WORST year for first sequels. First it was "Night at the Museum 2," then "Transformers 2" and the stunningly awful "Halloween 2."
I stand corrected. "Transformers 2" is not the worst movie of 2009 -- H2 is.

Will the collection be 4 discs (2 for each movie) or just 2 discs ?

This, X-Men Origins, Terminator: Salvation, and Drag Me to Hell. All overrated/highly anticipated films that were just so bad they were overloaded with fanfare for nothing.

reminds me of Harry Potter. they make this awesome box set in a really nice box with a ton of little goodies and things but it only has the first 5 movies. since this was a series they knew from DAY ONE would be 7 movies (at the time, its of course now 8 movies). even if i was a huge fan i wouldnt have bought that.
so at least in this case, its just a lame little case that holds the two movies. but yeah its even affecting tv releases because i saw a collection of the first 5 seasons of The Office.
i guess some people always fall for it so they'll keep doing this but its just sad and a waste.

Any news on whether the 2 movie collection includes just the movie discs or the special features and stuff?
I enjoyed Transformers a lot and watch it quite often. Revenge of the Fallen was not as good, but was still enjoyable. Of all the big movies that were critically trashed this summer, I think G.I.Joe was the most disappointing. Everything looked fake and what didn't look fake looked exactly like what it was- a set. Only the Paris sequence had some excitement. T4 was ok. I can't understand the slamming Bale got for the movie. I thought he was ok. Wolverine was pretty enjoyable as well, but that could be cos I am not a Marvel man and don't follow X-Men comics.
I will buy Transformers 2. That is the only one I will surely buy. It will look great in Blu. I am on the fence about T4. Maybe I'll watch it once more to decide whether to buy it or not. G.I. Joe and Wolverine I will not be picking up.
Transformers was the one movie that showed me the real difference between full screen and widescreen. I saw it first in full screen and then later in widescreen and the difference is just phenomenal. I never buy full screen movies, but the library I borrow from had only the full screen version. I ended up buying the Blu-ray and oh man, even on a standard def. TV, let alone a HDTV, the aspect ratio shows so much more and you can actually make out what is going on in the climax fight.

Mindbogglingly horrible sequel. They should have just titled this the Revenge of Michael Bay.
This competes with Night at the Museum 2 as the worst f**king movie i've seen all year.
Sweet a 2 movie collection. Michael Bay is going to be making a Transformers 3. We all know it.

Curiously enough, I'm fairly certain that's Michael Bay's theory on making movies.
Ha! Good shout.
Seriously though, as a film-lover, it's nice when pretty much everyone you speak to is talking about a film. This isn't quite one of those occasions (Titanic and Star Wars Episode I would fall into that category for me) but it is nice to more than a handful of comments posted about a film's release.

Even T4 was a let down...
I don't understand how people thought this would be better than the first? After all the hoopla of the stuff coming out of the publicity machine before this movie came out, it was lending itself to become less than the original plot wise but with more CGI effects than the first one.
I will get it mainly for robots beating up robots, nothing really more and hopefully my new HD projector will get a work out.
For people to say it is the worse movie ever then they should get out and see more movies - the IMDB bottom 250 list is a great place to start....

this movie sucked. I hope Parmount takes the next movie from Bay and gives it to a real director.

No, if GI Joe gets this many comments than everyone should be very sad. In fact we should start a group because their planning sequels.
On the positive side for GI Joe, though.....you could hardly say it was boring or dragged out (unlike Transformers 2), and it had more entertainment value than this, but just barely.
You're joking right? GI Joe came across like it was written by a group of 6 years put together by Hasbro, with nothing positive to offer.

The sheer number of posts on this tell you that while it may or may not have been the best film or the worst film, as far as at least this website is concerned it's the one that's generated the most interest. Regardless of a film's quality, it's nice when you get a film that's massive enough that most people have something to say about it.

its always funny to see the people who didnt like a movie make the bigger deal out of it. but least its civilised hating here compared to most places *coughaicncough*

With the exception of gratuitous dog humping and the 'Sluticon', this movie was pretty entertaining right up to the point where
Spoiler Optimus Prime is "killed",
then it all went down hill from there.

Can't say that I was disappointed at this movie, because it was what I expected it to be, just a dumb stupid film to as I say "turn off your brain and enjoy the pretty colors" kind of the same thing that happened with "G.I. Joe" (Went with several friends who hated it, I just said "Consider the trailer and the director, what else did you expected?"
Now on the other hand, I was expecting something more out of "Wolverine" so that one WAS a big disappointement.
So to put it short, I do agree that this one and G.I. Joe are films that cannot be deffended so to speak, but since they are what I expected them to be and I enjoyed them for what they are I'll be getting this one when it comes out.

I stand by what I say. I'd rather watch "Batman & Robin" than having my eyes ravaged by "Transformers 2" again.
If you guys like it so much, then buy the DVD or Blu-ray. I'm not stopping you, I'm just putting my feelings out about it.

I do, and while you guys may scoff at it -- "Transformers 2" handily beats down all the Uwe Boll movies and "Batman & Robin" in terms of awfulness. Some movies are the fun kind of bad (the kind you heckle and throw popcorn at) like B&R, but TF-2 was deadly dull. I mean, by the time it ended I couldn't get to the exit doors fast enough.

Ok, now you're just getting ridiculously carried away. I don't think Transformers 2 was as good as it could have been, but there's no reasonably thinking person who would ever claim that it is worse than "Batman & Robin".

that's where you're wrong. if the majority of those seeing this movie or even the first were the fans, they wouldnt have even made a quarter of the money that they did eventually make.
the fans are a very small minority. these movies were successful because of the non fans, the "average joe" type people. and the makers knew this so for better or for worse they made a movie they hoped would appeal to everyone. hence some of the humor and focus on non Transformers.
movies dont make this sorta money with only fan support. and that goes back to my earlier joke about the "money doesnt equal good" thing. yes its true that a movie isn't good simply because its a huge box office success...but at the same time movies make that sort of money because people saw it multiple times, word of mouth spread.
so a movie being a box office hit isn't automatically good because everyone has their own idea of what is good or bad. but when they make this sorta money, obviously those who disliked it are a very small minority. thats not to say their opinion isnt valid but some act like their opinion is fact and get offended that people actually enjoyed it or even insult those who did.
there are many movies i hate, many that i'm in the minority of hating but i dont get upset or attack those who liked it. i think thats the biggest problem with the so called "haters" on the internet when it comes to movies or tv. people dont care if they hate something and express that, its those who feel the need to attack the people who dont share in their awesome and perfect opinions.

turd fest compared to the first 1
How odd... never thought anything could be c**ppier then the movie itself... appears the cover has proved me wrong.
The fact is the movie isn't horrible.. it's not great, but it's that weird middle ground where you feel somewhat offended that it wasn't better.
The amount of stupid, infantile childish humour in the movie aimed it straight at the teen/child/idiot market... the problem is the majority of people who wanted to see these films are former transformers fans.
Try to remember Michael Bay. Kids are off watching Twilight.. maybe aim this film at fans, and you won't get the awful backlash!
The only sad part is how much money this movie bad.. it doesn't reflect how bad it was.
People. If you keep going to bad movie's, they'll keep making bad movies.

This is the most underrated film ever. Call me an idiot, but I admit I loved every minute of this film. Of course it wasn't as good as Inglourious Basterds or District 9, but I was highly entertained. The special effects were the best I've seen, awesome action sequences, and a great plot. Was everybody in a bad mood when the film was out? This is THE most underrated film ever. Will Netflix the BD.
Where is the Transformers box set? I held off buying the first movie on Blu Ray till this one came out XD
Hopefully Target will put out more neat transforming cases with this release.
Cant believe this was written by the same guys that wrote Star Trek. So different.
As in Star Trek was good and Transformers 2 was a still-birth.

That cover for the 1 Disc Edition is just wrong. And yes Wolverine is Citizen Kane compared to this... thing.
This film was a 150 minute G1 episode, only with dirty jokes and a bad word or two. And you know what? I loved every minute of it. Definitely not the WORST summer movie, which goes to Wolverine, but also not the best, which is Star Trek IMO.
I enjoyed the first film and enjoyed this one equally. Great action, great effects, lackluster plot. That describes both films, but they are a blast. No one can deny that. Definitely getting this on Blu.
maybe this is the rare case where a Paramount 2 disc edition has better artwork than the single disc dvd release.
All the people calling this the worst movie of all time, need to watch more movies. It's no masterpiece, but by no means the worst movie ever...

Box office results don't always equal a good movie, but they do equal sequels. The movie studio doesn't care if you liked the movie; they will make more sequels as long as it makes them billions of dollars.

Wolverine is Citizen Kane compared to Transformers 2? You people are NUTS! Both are same level of Hollywood mainstream mediocre or less. Worst films of Summer 09 - Anything starring the Wayans.

While I'm more of an indie/fall releases fan, I certainly can appreciate Summer Blockbusters when done right, and I did enjoyed the first Transformers. This though, wasn't the case. It was shockingly horrible, every thing about it was just bad, terrible script, the acting was beyond bad, I've seen bad acting before but Megan Fox really stretched it, her acting abilities was virtually non-existence. And above all, it was overdone, too much explosions one after another without any real sense of coherent plot or storytelling.
Sure, this is not the worst film of all-time, but it ain't half-decent either. There are far better Summer films, like Star Trek, Drag Me to Hell, District 9 and I just saw Inglorious Basterds on Thursday, now that's a wild ride and over-the-top done right.
For Bay, 'The Rock' was probably his best work, it was a decent film, but even that was largely due to the fact that Sean Connery pretty much owned the film.
And As for reference discs, I'll stick with I, Robot, Wall-E and Planet Earth for my guests.

Racist humor?
What? Are we all 12? Grow up people, relax and get a sense of humor.

Mindnumbingly awful film. Just a c**ppy summer movie season period.

I think they are first starting off with digital copies with "Star Trek." That's what I hope.

the extras are produced by the DVD producer of Ridley Scott's films and the nine disc Alien set. so I know the extras will be fantastic.
Saw this twice, first at the midnight showing, which the whole place was rocking, crowd was totally entertained by the film. Kills me how folks try to convince others that a 400 million grossing film sucked.....Don't give me the c**p that a film's gross doesn't equate to success. The film made 70% of its money AFTER the first 5 days. You don't do that unless positive word of mouth and repeat viewings are happening. Definite pickup on Bluray to go with my Bluray of the first film.

Definit Blu buy for me, good amount of extras and awesome movie, just the kind of action flick that you don't need brains to watch and can just sit back and enjoy, awesome action and amazing CGI, hope the Blu-Ray has the Imax scenes like WB did with The Dark Knight.
Not the best movie ever. I liked it more then Wolverine. I'll get it on Blu ray for my collection.
Will be getting the 2 disc, loved it :D
Definitely not the most disappointing summer blockbuster this summer. That honor goes to Terminator. IMO, this movie was fun despite some clunky storytelling and awful attempts at comedy. Some good action scenes and good special effects and I enjoyed the final 30 minutes. So I will definitely get the 2-disc edition. As long as Peter Cullen plays Prime, I'm there.
that's some strange single disk artwork(unlike the last one)there are parts from the other poster but it's a bad photoshop job.
I am so completely easy to please on this kind of movie. Show me all the special effects and explosions, and I'm sold. All I want is for the c**p story-telling to not get in the way. Well, somehow the c**p story-telling was big enough to overshadow some really massive robots and sweet actions scenes (Optimus' big dramatic fight in the middle come to mind). It takes some effort to make a movie this disjointed, with a scatterbrained plot. I don't know how even bad writers could have so much trouble tying a narrative together. Bay needed like a dozen MaGuffins to keep the plot going. On his worst day, George Lucas (who has had some bad days) could still manage with just one.
Really quite awful, and yet I'll still buy the Blu-Ray. My TV is a Samsung LCD, and its about the size of those aircraft carriers that get destroyed early on, so even if the movie is bad the TV deserves a chance to display the effects.

Single-disc DVD artwork added.
Definitely NOT the worst movie of the summer or of the year......but still somewhat disappointing. While it had some great moments here and there, the story was ridiculously muddled, as if they were still trying to make it up as they went along. They could have easily trimmed about 25 minutes from this and it would have been fine. NOTE TO MICHAEL BAY: Just because you had Sam's mom swear a few times, it doesn't mean it's funny.
Not the worst movie of the summer! Certainly not the best. Simply an entertaining Summer Blockbuster popcorn film with brilliant SFX, CGI, babes and cinematography. I don't understand how people can't see Michael Bays brilliance, I mean his formula for films is not complicated.
Cool cover!!
Cool cover!!
You know. A lot of fans of the first "Transformers" film will give high praise to the new "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen." Guess what? I'm not one of them.
Seriously, this movie totally sucks. It's awful, it's a mess and it's the worst movie of all-time. I can't believe why Michael Bay wanted to make this and he's making a third film. This movie is absolute garbage.
SO, OH YEAH!!! A HUGE PASS!!!!
Oh and btw...where's "Night at the Museum 2?"

What a terribly disappointing film after the dumb fun that was the first one. I know they wanted to make this one "bigger and better" but apparently that meant making it far more dumb and stupid and the jokes far more horrendous. There were parts that I liked, mainly the forest fight and some of the finale, so I'll probably grab the blu-ray at some point for that. The extra features ought to be pretty damn good, maybe even better than the movie! I do really like the artwork this time though, not as plain as the first movie's special edition.
Ugh, this movie was disappointing, and it turned me off from "IMAX". Passing on this lamesauce.
Overall a good companion piece to 1st

I couldn't agree more. It dragged it down so much, I don't watch transformers for that and it seemed like it was there to impress the 11 and 12 year olds.

Saw it in real IMAX. The quality of the IMAX filmed portions was incredible! I got vertigo on some of the flyover shots in Egypt.
Terrible story and acting, but awesome action, effects, and sound design.
This will be my new blu demo disc. Bring on the DTS-MA.

Yeah, this wasn't as good as the first one, but I'll get it anyway to be a completist......
I hated every second of this movie.
It made me realise something: I'm not a child any more.
Then again, maybe it's just utterly terrible and my age has nothing to do with it.
P.S. Credit where credit is due: It's a gorgeous cover.

Oh great, this time Bay has taken the writers into the booth to finally shoot them.
One word: NO. Absolutely terrible film that not even the special effects could save. Forget this, where's The Hangover?!?!
jeez where is teminator salvation dvd/blu-ray news already this came out over a month later and everything else released around terminator salvation has already been announced
i guess there working on the extended dvd/blu-ray version is why it is taking so long

I've seen a few Boll movies, and while they are certainly lacking (such as "In the Name of the King" and "House of the Dead" ) -- Bay's movies are worst in comparison. I mean, the guy is arrogant and has a hard-on for sweeping camera shots. As well as shooting the pretty girls (Megan Fox and Isabel Lucas) like they're auditioning for a porno. Not to mention for the IMAX-shot sequences are nowhere near as thrilling or wonderfully staged like last year's "The Dark Knight" -- a few random shots of Optimus beating a fellow robot up will be in IMAX and revert back to 35mm.
"District 9" has all the things a "Transformers" movie SHOULD have -- a decent story, flawless CGI (the aliens are far more convincing than Optimus Prime) and action sequences that are exciting and competently shot. And it was made on a fraction of what it cost to make "Transformers 2" -- that says a lot about a director's integrity and thorough budget planning. Bay just doesn't understand the concept of getting a decent story and telling it right -- about 90 minutes of the movie is devoted to stupid filler like Sam's mom eating pot brownies and acting stupid or John Turturro wearing a jock strap.

Loved this movie SO much. Saw it twice in theaters (both on opening day) and then caught it in IMAX...it was totally mind-blowing. Can't wait to own the DVD.

saw an ad for Target i think where it did show a steelbook version that had a similar cover to the 1st movie's blu-ray. that same white background with Prime's profile on it except this time he's all damaged like these covers here. i thought that was a nice way to have both movies go well together.
anyway...this is quite a packed release, its nice when studios actually put effort into the bonus features. i'm sure it helps when the movie makes a billion dollars but you know. but yeah i liked it so definately buying.
i gotta say, surfing around the net, i dont understand the "it sucked but looked pretty so i'll buy it" people. if you didnt like the movie, why's it matter if anything looked good...why waste your money? there's countless movies i think are terrible but have amazing effects or something but i'll never own them because the movie is terrible.

I agree on being the WORST blockbuster summer movie, anything that saves this movie was and is its mighty impressive CGI/Special Effects. Its wonderful effects on Blu-ray and a heavy DTS-HD track are my only priority on picking this up, literally.
One of the worst films of the decade. Seriously, it nearly outdoes the awful parodies Selterberg foistered onto the world. Now, the first one was merely bad but Bay just doesn't listen to the criticism and emphasizes everything wrong from the first movie to the nth degree here. Lots of lame humor (the xenophobic humor and lack of attention to geography), and the action is just incomprehensible.
And don't make with the film snob comments. If there's any justice in the world, there won't be a third film (or if there is, Bay is out of the picture).
