Yes, albeit a different one to the US release. The commentaries on this release are more focussed and Chris McFeely appears to be more knowledgeable than the people that did the R1 tracks (well the Americans at least).
Yes, I know Scramble City is, in a lack of a better word, c**p. Bad subtitles are hardly a problem, it's not like they're saying anything life-altering. Transformers TV-series could be described as a 30-minute toy commercial, but SC is blatantly obvious about it, and it really doesn't serve any other purpose than sheer novelty...although it's the only glimpse we're given at Metroplex' construction.
Does it still have a commentary, though?

If by original audio you mean Japanese with poor English subs, then yes, it does. However, seeing as a third of the episode is made up of footage from the original Transformers series, the original audio would have been English.
The Japanese trailer is narrated by Victor Caroli, but I can't remember anything about it. There is no 'Zone'.

Just three things I wanna know...
1) Does Scramble City really, really include the original audio?
2) Same as above, but with the "Japanese trailer"
3) Is Zone really, really not included?

Definitely keep the Sony, because the extras are better.
I've bought in the past nearly every damn version of this film released on dvd.I didn't keep any of them because they were all substandard rubbish,(the Aussie one was a particular laugh), but I'd finally settled on the Sony 20th Anniversary release and then THIS comes along!! I've pre-ordered the tin release fom HMV which has an exclusive sleeve,(I'll still keep the R1 disc), and hopefully this'll be the final word on my childhood favorite. Hopefully...
The tin play.com have already sold it for me but whuff, no going back now I've seen those screens!
Added a couple of comparison images.
Transformers huh? Hated the cartoon series. But I'll admit it's got a cool concept. And the upcoming movie looks great.
You're watching it now? You jammy swine, Chris!

Hence the reason the link above goes to the main forum page, not the thread you linked to.
I have been sent a copy of this today, which is nice (to quote a rather worn-out catchphrase).

Depends on your point of view. It was shot in the academy ratio and cropped to 1.85:1 for theatrical exhibition. The widescreen version is how it would have looked in cinemas, but you see more info with the open matte version.
"Original 4:3 version" and a "remastered 1:85:1" verson. Which is the OAR?
All of those questions have been answered in the text and links above.
So, which is the better one between this and R1? Is the transfer on this one better? Plus, I can't tell if the features are the same or if they have added/changed any. I was getting ready to get the R1 and this is announced. What should I do?
play.com have a metal book edition with art cards to preorder for £15 (2 disc version)

I agree about the cover. I was ready to complain about the emphasis on Prime's back in the Maverick DVD cover art, but this is even worse!

I hope this will filter down to the poor little Region 4 people...

Also, Scramble City contains original audio this time.
I wonder what happened to Zone.

A bit different from the R1 version. It loses but gains a few extras. R1 had filmmaker and fan commentary as well some other cool features. This new one seems quite solid as well. Love the artwork!
Who am I to talk though, I own the GI Joe movie, right. Honestly I only own it for the PSAs, but it's worth it.
Must be, it's £15.99 RRP. Oh and Gabe, 'chut up'

So I'm guessing 'best' is a relative term then?
(I'm gonna be regretting that one)

well it is the 2nd cover that I know of that has just OP on it(the Canadian Rino DVD had him on the cover right?)
I think it's a fairly poor cover. The big shot of Earth in the background seems to be cashing in on the forthcoming movie and has very little to do with the animated effort.
Cool cover.

WHAAATT?! You haven't seen it? Bloody hell.
And better transfer? Oh man now I have to get this.
HMV have the single disc for 3.99

I need to see this.I only remember Beast Wars growing up.Although I know I saw some of the original episodes of Transformers but I don't remember a movie.

The transfer is better.
Looks identical to the R1 2 discer.
"Now all we need, is a little Energon....And a lot of luck"
"This is the end of the road Galvatron"
Bloody awesome movie, must have seen it a millions times and it still hasn't gotten old.
