It's been dying since the late eighties hasn't it?

Michael Bay is a menace to film and the fact that his movies are often highly rated is a sign that cinema is dying.

When I first saw Transformers, I was disappointed with it. It's kind of grown on me, though. I don't know... Maybe I will actually purchase the Blu-ray edition of the movie.
You know. I should've told you this earlier before. When the Transformers was out on DVD and HD-DVD, I saw a woman at my local Circuit City store buying the HD-DVD version. Isn't that weird? Now, she must've wasted so much money instead of getting the Blu-Ray instead.

The exact reasons WHY you loved it is what turned us off the film. The plot was both nonexistent and overplotted, the action sequences were horribly staged and edited, none of the human characters were likeable, and most importantly -- the awful script and awful direction. Even the good CGI looked cartoonish and fake at times.
I knew I was expecting a brainless action flick just by the trailers and the director attached, but even with that in mind, I loathed it. I don't know what Spielberg and Dreamworks were smoking when they brought on Bay and the writers, but they should've picked someone who had passion for the material and was actually competent both story-wise and directorially.
It's fine if those of you who like TF, but I will personally boycott the sequel next June. I'm serious.

This should have an apology track by Michael Bay.
Unless of course he's proud of it. Given that it made $700,000,000, sold loads of DVDs and other merchandise, had plenty of people who loved it (based on those sales alone) and Paramount begging him to come back and do more of the same, it's not hard to understand why an apology track won't be rushed out any time soon. It's like expecting an apology track from Lucas for the 1997 and 2004 edits while the world and his dog buys every re-release on the shelves.

Got the Steelbook and HD DVD already - fun flick!
But will be getting this for the glory of PCM Uncompressed and TrueHD

Same thing, only difference is the Dolby TruHD

Also I still use optical b/c i have an older receiver, is HD audio significantly better?
i keep hearing about these terrible load times but my player loads just as fast as a dvd player....now i do have a PS3 so maybe i lucked out and those are faster?
regarding this cover, yeah i knew they'd go with that photo but it seems this is a slip cover so maybe it'll have one of the other covers on the inside or even something new?

Think you're confusing the PS3 with the XBOX 360...have had no sound issues with mine and last time I checked you could power the PS3 down with the remote control.
you forgot the loud thing....lol because maybe im special here but my PS3 is completely silent, you cant even tell when its on even when you're playing games, much less movies. now my 360 on the other hand, lets just say its a good thing i play loud games with the volume up.

First, this movie is inspired on a cartoon that itself was inspired in TOYS...so, why were you expecting a highly complex plot??
This movie is a GREAT popcorn movie, with GREAT special effects and sound...this is one of those movies that you watch because you want to be entertained, were things blow up and giant robots battle...this is no Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Lawrence of Arabia, Terminator...but it's a great blockbuster...
Shia stole the show (yes, HE DID), and I felt that the ending was too much, as well as the hacker subplot being TOTALLY unecessary, but that never took anything good away from the movie.

Now that they have won the format war, they have no incentive to fix these issues, or lower the prices on players. They need to start releasing some decently priced profile 2.0 spec players because i want a dedicated player not a video game system that can heat an entire room, is as loud as a microwave oven, and doesnt have a power button on the remote.
The True HD track on this should sound amazing as the DD plus track on the hd-dvd sounded pretty good. But there was a quote by the encoders that the DD plus sounded the same as the True HD and thats why they left it off the hd-dvd.

Wow, that artwork is a total surprise
i have the 2 disc DVD... what are the differences in terms of Special features between this Blu ray release and the regular 2 disc dvd i have?? Since i loved this flick, i may double dip if their are extra extra features!

I'm so buying that!
nice been waiting for this since it came out on DVD now just have wb announce a date for the matrix trillogy and ill be happy
YAY!!! Can't wait to get this DVD.

As a kid's movie (apart from the dirty joke) - I thought it had an ok story and some tense moments. I was half-expecting another "Thunderbirds" - which was a terrible attempt at a kid's film (missing the cool of the 60's show). Also, Michael Bay is one of the better "action" directors around.
This and Beowulf I have been waiting for on Blu!! Instant buy.
I don't get the defence that the film being about giant robots or inspired by a line of toys somehow excuses how bad it is. There are plenty of 'kids' movies that have coherent plots and decent acting. Jeez, even the 1986 cartoon had a better story than this.
To user above me stating that this movie is "Classic" I suggest he or she rethink what was written.
Anyways... this will be a hardy title for Blu-ray for the main reason that the majority of the consumers already own the first High Def edition from HD DVD, though most were waiting for it on Blu-ray I calculate that it won't be Best Seller on HD again. I will not double dip just for audio, even though I like that TruHD soundtrack I am still rather pleased with the DD Plus.

Yippeee! I was a big fan of the Transformers cartoons in the 80's and thought the film was a briliant fun. It is funny how serious some of the reviewers took to the film ...look it is a film about GIANT robots (Toys too)!!!

As I suspected all that talk of the Transformers DD+ being transparent to lossless audio has turned out to be twaddle, everyone saying lossless audio wasn't included as there is no difference has also turned out be utter tosh.
It's a bit like comparing apples to oranges. There was room for TrueHD on the HD DVD release, but they went with DD+ because, according to Dolby themselves, it was transparent. I'm sure all the flack that they got for doing that has played a role in the presence of uncompressed and lossless audio on this release. That and the fact that DD+ on BD isn't anywhere near as high a bitrate as it is on HD DVD.

This movie was absolutely abysmal. A showcase of special effects ultimately lacking in plot. Well, what little plot existed.
Classic.

I've yet to get into BD. This is the movie that'll make me want to buy an LCD TV and a player. I've been waiting for its announcement on BD for awhile. I'm glad Paramount is releasing it with everything from the 2-disc (I think its everything.) It would've been nice to get the IMAX extended cut added though.
The HD DVD of this looks great...not a double dip for me yet...even I was tempted to buy the Target SD edition...
Certainly a visual feast, but I couldn't really be bothered watching it again the second time round, the relationship between LeBouff's child-clown & the mumbling 'Formers didn't work for me, neither did the more comic representation of Turturro's mincing secret agent.
Maybe worth checking out sometime down the line perhaps, just for the fx.

i hope they use that 2disc cover of prime's head against white as the cover art. because that "3 head floating" one was sorta lame. or better yet, have something completely new.
not that it matters, i dont refuse to buy a movie due to c**ppy cover art but i'm fun that way.

Sorry, I hate to keep pointing this out, but there are no region one Blu-ray titles. BD uses regions A, B and C. So far Paramount's titles have been coded for all regions, much like Warner's output.
Still not enough to convince me to buy this clunker. A good BD couldn't do anything for the plot.

In addition to the lossless audio the video is also rumored to be a new encode in order to take advantage of the higher possible bit rates of Blu-ray vs. those available with HD DVD.
Saweeeeeeeet! Ive been jonesin' for a Transformers fix since I had to sell my HD-DVD player and all my discs.
Excellent News, Day 1 Purchase!
The HD DVD ver I own is great already, but lack lossless Audio, which this Blu version will have. So I'm upgrading this for PCM and TrueHD.

If only the two-disc standard release would have this. Not audio commentary and just 3 Featurettes.
What are paramount like with region coding?
Finally, I have been wondering when this would arrive. I thought they would have released this first.
