It's similar, but I prefer the theatrical poster to the cover. This is one of the best movies of the year, that is certain.
Also, where is this much talked about director's cut the editor has been going on about? I would hope there wouldn't be a double dip on a title such as this...

One of my favorites of the year as well. Wasn't sure how I felt about it when it first ended though. Took some time to sink in.
i really wanted to see this...and beginners.
This movie has been getting a TON of positive buzz and critics loved it. I couldn't see it because it wasn't showing in my local theater and I couldn't find anywhere else where it could be showing. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be a big Oscar contender. Will definitely check this out.
I'm a huge Terrence Malick fan, Badlands is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Out of the 5 features he directed thus far, 3 were made not only during my lifetime, but also when I was of moviegoing age...and yet I didn't get to see any of them on a theater.
I thought The Tree of Life would be the first one to have a decent international distribution scheme that would allow me to see it on the silver screen, but what I find is that even Americans missed the movie because it wasn't playing within driving distance from them... So, let's hope for the next ones...

I doubt it will receive a best pic nom as long as the fall season of films are unimpressive.
I admired Malick for doing something unique, but the entire film/experience left me entirely cold and unmoved. And this is coming from someone who liked all his previous films (though New World didn't do much for me either).

Not sure about that...with the insanity of 10 Best Picture nominees, pretty much everything gets a nomination now.

So sad I missed this. Terrence Malick is one of my favorite directors ever.

Not sure about that...with the insanity of 10 Best Picture nominees, pretty much everything gets a nomination now. They changed the rules again. There can be anywhere from 5-10 nominees and a film has to ranked as #1 on a certain number of ballots to even be eligible.

While I would want the Blu-ray anyway, it seems crazy they aren't releasing a DVD only edition.

Its because DVD is a dying format.

Not really. I'm the only person I know with a Blu-ray player. DVD is still more popular, even if I prefer Blu-ray by far myself.

Its because DVD is a dying format. It's not a dying format. The movie industry just wants you to believe that so you would spend more money on movie viewing at home.

Missed this one in theatres, heard it was pretty good.

This one is going to get a Best Picture/Best Cinematagraphy nomination most definitely. Has a good shot at both too.
Personally - I haven't seen this - but am so excited to see this on DirecTV Cinema. Saved it to my Queue.

Glory be in the Highest Heavens...when all hope was lost, it's gonna open tomorrow on a shopping mall theater within a 10-minute drive from me.
The timing is great too; I'll be able to detox myself from having seen Bad Teacher...

Nomination is one thing, but remember that Roger Deakins didn't win for ...Jesse James..., which in my humble opinion was one of the best works of cinematography in the history of cinema (even though the movie itself was bleh...). And it seems highly unlikely that the Academy would award a Terrence Malick movie with a Best Picture prize.
Even though it most certainly deserves, I wouldn't put my hand in the fire over it getting any Oscars at all...
Just came back from seeing it...vintage Malick; a wondrous movie supposed to be contemplated and essentially insightful about the human condition.
