Love the artwork. Though the blood-spatter poster may have been my first choice...

I KNEW they were gonna use this image for the set. Wolf, I'm sure places like BestBuy will have their own exclusive cover. I think it's safe to bet that whatever the poster is for ssn3 (more specifically, the cover chosen for the 3rd novel in the series) will be the image used for the DVD set.
I wouldn't hold my breath on other covers/versions - at least in the US. True Blood release was pretty cute and dry in that respect. And it's a set, not like it's easy to make a steelbook or other variations of packaging.
I'm finishing off the first season now, and it's enjoyable. Just hope the 2nd season doesn't disappoint like Big Love did for me.

I'm one of the few people who HATE this show. All it is is a c**ppy Twilight for adults.
I like the cover, I don't love it. It doesn't pop to me like the first season's cover did. But I'll still buy it, I love this show.

If that's your assessment of the program, clearly you've never actually seen it. I'm a fan of "True Blood" and my girlfriend drug me to the second "Twilight" last year. Watch the two, my friend, you'll figure out the difference very quickly.

Your theory: If I make a comparison of two very similar things, I haven't watched the show.
My theory: You clearly are too close to the show to get mad at anyone who makes a criticism about it. Its fine to love a show, but to get frustrated at anyone who disgarees, makes you look like an idiot.

You made yourself look like an idiot anyways by calling this "adult Twilight" when it came out before "Twilight".

Still have not seen an episode of this, I've had my doubts about it but seeing all the acclaim it's getting and the fact it's HBO I should get on it.
Well..

I can't help but get involved..
True Blood:
The show is broadcast on the premium cable network HBO in the United States. It is produced by HBO in association with Ball's production company, Your Face Goes Here Entertainment.[1] It premiered on September 7, 2008.
Twilight:
Twilight is the debut, young-adult vampire-romance novel[3][4] by author Stephenie Meyer. Twilight was initially rejected by 14 agents,[5] but became an instant bestseller when published originally in hardback in 2005, debuting at #5 on the New York Times Best Seller list within a month of its release. (Film-Twilight was released in theaters on November 21, 2008,[7] and grossed US$35.7 million on its opening day.)
Enjoy life being dumb. And even though I'm not a fan of either, It's beyond obvious that True Blood is a CASH IN on twilight.

I am afraid you are wrong.
True Blood is based off the The Southern Vampire Mysteries Books they where first published in 2001. So True Blood was first.

I figured your response would be something similar to this. I believe I was quite polite to you. If anything I clearly wasn't "mad" or "frustrated". You seem to have a gift for missing the point entirely, which is not exactly a surprise, given your hilariously misguided comparison of "Twilight" to "True Blood".
No need for a rebuttal, ehaislar handled that quite well.

It doesn't matter which one came first, they're both the same.
Twilight: A girl who isn't that popular and is kinda distant from most people falls in love with a handsome vampire who is really kinda nice and looks pretty.
True Blood: A girl who isn't that popular and is kinda distant from most people falls in love with a handsome vampire who is really kinda nice and have sex.

so....according to the info up there, True Blood came out over 2 months BEFORE Twilight but its cashing in on Twilight? aaaaaaaaalrighty then. lol
and if a an unpopular girl falling in love with a vampire is considered the "rip off" point then i guess both of them are ripping off Buffy because she did that first in 1997. lol

I will wait until this drops below $20 in retail stores. The 1st season was sold as low as $17.99 at one point last year.

Oh boy, we got a kid who wants to be cool. I'm talking about how quickly they are together. Release date wise. Stay out of the conversation if you're not in it.

The think the idea to make a TV series based on the Sookie Stackhouse books came about in 2005. A pilot was made in 2007.
Not the most important aspect, but Anna Paquin's nude scenes this season were just awesome. Didn't think Lizzy Kaplan's from the season before could be topped. wrong!
This show is great, if people think it's like Twilight, let them. It's not, at all.

At the end of the day True Blood is heaps better than the really slow Twilight...
But that is just my opinion...
But that is just my opinion...
Being a person who watched this drivel of a show and the Twilight movies, I see clearly the connection and similarities between the two. And the differences. They are both abysmal inclusions in vampire lore, and this show is one of, if not THE, most overrated shows in TV history. Those who enjoy it, have fun with it. But there are obvious similarities between this and Twilight, regardless of which came first and who ripped off whom. There is no denying that fact.
I think calling True Blood an adult Twilight is pretty accurate. They're very similar and True Blood is decidedly for adults whereas Twilight is for teenagers.
They both feature a female lead character who is somewhat Special (Bella in Twilight is immune to Vampire powers, Sookie in True Blood can read thoughts). They both fall for a "dangerous" vampire who is, in fact, different from most of their race in that they don't drink Human Blood, thought both have killed/fed off of humans in the past. As the story progresses you learn about Vampire Hierarchy and culture in both series, and in both series the male lead vampire has a former lover/would-be lover who still haven't gotten over the male lead and try to deter the two leads from being together.
Yeah, the two are very different but denying that they are, in ways, also very similar is just....wrong. They are. It's undeniable.
