i LOVED this movie. i watched it twice in theaters. i'm pissed regular dvd'ers are getting shafted again, so i'll stick with my copy i already have.
Now, this certainly looked stupid...but it has a giant werewolf. And therefore I need it.
I liked the movie (the IMAX 3D was gorgeous, every detail of the costumes/sets were visible); I don't care for the artwork. Then again, outside of the art for the Extended Cut for the first film; the artwork for 2 and 3 were meh.
Then again, personally I'm not a fan of Sony's 3D boxes. I'm just nitpicking here; but for a 3D Blu-Ray I expect a slipcover with a lenticular cover a la Transformers or something shinny like Immortals/Hugo. It's a pointless nit-pick but as Sony is a pusher for 3D at home; I wish they put more umph into their box art/presentation. Resident Evil: Afterlife, Piranha, Green Hornet....most of their releases when it comes to box presentation have lacked behind other studios. But once again, it's a real nit-pick I know.
Based on the Resident Evil 4 pack, which didn't include a 3D copy of 'Afterlife' I would guess that there won't be a 3D version of this in there either. So I'll be buying it as a stand-alone release; unless a 3D copy is offered (don't yet have 1-3 on Blu-Ray) along with some additional features...I'll just get the 3D Blu-Ray by itself.
I am disappointed about the Ultraviolet DC. I don't like them, I don't think their as convenient as advertised and I don't like handling two accounts between UV...sorry Flixster and iTunes. Which, indeed is another problem of mine; that UV doesn't have it's own app to run on when you wish to view something offline.
I really wish that an option between the pair like Paramount and Universal offer was available on their discs.

I'll get the blu-ray, but I don't like the continuing trend of extras being dropped for the DVDs.

the irony in all that is that i'm guessing they do this in the hopes of "forcing" people to get the blu-ray instead. but these days just about every blu-ray release includes a dvd copy...so yeah, defeating their own purpose much. lol

So true, Bouncy X.
I'll pick this up and hope someone will have an exclusive disc for DVD.

The thing is, I'm confused. The trade ad reads...
Blu-ray Loaded with Special Features:
5 Featurettes
Filmmakers' Commentary
Blooper Reel
"Heavy Prey" Music Video by Lacey Strum featuring Geno Lenardo
Exclusive to Blu-ray:
Cracking the Underworld: Picture-in-Picture Experience
3D Exclusive:
Previsualiation Sequences
So Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, 3D Blu-Ray? That doesn't make sense. Unless the first part was a misprint; 'DVD Loaded with Special Features'.
I'm truely hope this is the case. I have all the movies and would like this to be a special edition as well.

i liked this one quite a bit but it was definately short on story, it was just wall to wall action. i mean it takes a good 20mins or more before there's any quiet time and the movie is barely 90mins. i didn't mind it as i liked the over the top action and it was nice seeing her return to the franchise but i can see how some might have been turned off by that.
