Simple. The theater version was something to get out on DVD quickly. Special Edition DVDs do take time.
I did like the first DVD release and I'm looking forward to the 2 disc SE which has plenty of extras.

Underworld
Is this edition for all regions?
I kinda wish I'd known about this earlier. And I wish she wasn't so hot, so I wouldn't be tempted to buy it.
Give me a break, Underworld sucked.
Unless it's more... um... Kate, then I'm not interested in the least.
I cant wait untill the next two underworld movies come out ( =
Cory: only the US version has been announced so far...
Thanks for the answer Tom. I'm upset, yet happy because I know alot of people hated this film but I have to say that it was my guilty pleasure film of 2003. I just love this thing maybe because it's action flick that happens to have Vamps and Wolves in it and I'm not big on that genre at all. But I guess I'll be buying it again because I love the concept and I love the backstories they've created. Hopefully they can build on that in the sequels.
I love vampires movies, but this movie really didn't do anything for me. It's not that I hated it. It's just it brought nothing really new to the table, but what kept interested was it's style. Underworld was very visually appealing, but it's a shame the script couldn't have been as good as the look of the movie
Those that bought the first film should be able to sue CTHE for releasing this so soon after. It is clearly there to make a quick buck and I really dont think that should be allowed. By Law.

Why? Are they forcing you to buy it again?

hmm
AS a movie Underworld wasn't that good. As a case study or another look into the vampire and werewolf mythology it was interesting. The movie is a good time-waster, and show evolve the mythologies of the characters. But I have already bought the original disk, and i can't for the life of think of why i would want to buy this movie twice. If i had known about this releas when I bought the original disk i would have held out, but now... I'll just netflix it.
Movie is great but.....
It is just plain mean of the studio to not mention anything about this when they released the theatrical version then we could choose to wait for this release. Those Money Hungry bastards

i thought this movie was a great action/popcorn flick...but why couldn't the release this around the same time as the theatrical version?!?
anything to make an extra buck.
