Nice to see The Thing's getting it's full set of extras, unlike the stripped-down US version.

The Thing: Damn. just ordered the US version! It has the 80 min doc in the pip, now this has it as it should be, uncut. GREAT film.
The Thing is one of the greatest creature flicks of all time! Already pre-ordered.

yeah, i actually went and bought the regular dvd instead of the blu-ray just because of that. yay canada sharing america's releases. lol
i gotta say i just dont understand the appeal of PiP tracks, and when they take an existing normal feature and force it into a PiP, well thats just retarded.

Indeed. If they don't bother to do something inventive, they're just boring. I don't mind visual commentaries, but all this sticking featurettes on the screen while the film plays is rubbish.
Yeah, it's like they've forced it into a PIP track just so they can go, "look, next gen extras!" when all we want is to watch the doc as it was intended. It's a great documentary, but i think it'll lose a lot being relegated to the corner of the screen while the movie plays.
Isn't that just an option? I'm sure the features can be watched on their own.

What do you mean stripped down ? I just read a review, and our version seems to have just about everything the UK Blu-ray has.

No, it doesn't. The US release only includes the commentary and most part of the Terror Takes Shape documentary as picture-in-picture feature, but it's missing the rest of the extras.
in some ways I agree with dtsHDMA on some few titles and more ways I think DolbyTrue should be on The Thing since the film was released in Dolby stereo optical and 70mm Dolby six-track.
dtsHDMA should say with titles like Apollo 13 that was released in optical dtsStereo and dts digital.
This is the issue that is really starting to tick-me-off-about-Bluray!
Its only the geeks that don’t know sod all about film releases and what dtsHDMA!
Thou Paramount has seen fit to give Top Gun DolbyTrue yes Dolby and a dtsHDMA.
The dtsHDMA is only a few db higher than DolbyTrue but go and figure its just a sly level adjustment to trick geeks into thinking dts is better.
Plus the extras on The Thing are the same as the DVD the same as the signature laserdisc edition. The more things change. The more they stay the same. Now then!
