Warner DVD Decision 2006 (US - DVD R1)
Would you like to know which ten titles won and will be released later this year?
Title: Warner DVD Decision 2006
Starring: Various
SRP: $19.97
Further Details:
DVD Decision 2006 was a joint promotion from Warner Home Video and Amazon.com in which movie fans were able to vote online for 30 catalog candidates from the Warner Bros. Studios library of which 10 will be released on DVD. Voting occurred at Amazon.com during the month of June 2006, and film fans voted for their favorite action & adventure, comedy & musical, or drama films. We've listed the 10 winners below, which will be released in two waves. The first half of the discs will be available on the 19th of December while the second half will be released on the 30th of January next year, and all with a retail price of right around $19.97 each. While 10 of the 30 titles will be released to all retailers, there will in fact be 12 released in total with two discs exclusive to Amazon.com. Details are very early on this one, but we do know that each film will be remastered for its DVD release and that some of the discs will contain extras. We have an early look at the artwork for each title below (with the exception of There Was A Crooked Man...) along with its date of release and any announced extras. Stay tuned for details on additional extras as they comes in and the high resolution artwork.

I'm glad for Up Periscope!, Band of Angels, and Operation Crossbow being released (but then I'm old enough to have enjoyed them on TV when I was a kid). With the talk here about a better cut of Looker, and if it really pans out, then that one I'd include, too. When I saw it first run in the theaters, I didn't think much of it then (even though, I'm a Crichton fan). I'd certainly give it a look, if a new version becomes available.
The film I voted for is getting released - Operation Crossbow.
Maybe Warner will now kill off that cheapie version released earlier this year by some Public Domain outfit in the USA who claimed it was out of copyright when it is not.
Also will be great to see it hopefully as restored anamorphic as the letterboxed print TCM show regularly here is showing its age.

It will be nice to have a fully uncut "Gymkata" release...it's surprsingly entertaining with some weird ass moments of nastiness.
YEAH, GYMKATA! I used to watch this movie all the time. The theme song still often goes through my head.
Yeah. I want that too for Looker. I have that on laser disc. What I would like is the extended version. Ten years ago or so, James Coburn did an interview with Starlog mag (Geeky, yes). I remember this because he was pissed that the final film was so incoherent. Lots of stuff cut out including a missing subplot.
What I hope is either an extened cut of the film. Extras to include the TV version footage, trailer and a making-of featurette.
BuddyRevell, you do know there's a sequel to "Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo" coming. REALLY. Freakin' Hollywood.

I cannot believe this.....
Variety is reporting that a studio is in the process of doing a reported $200 MILLION dollar sequel to 'Gymkata'. The working title is "Welcome Back, Gym Kata".
John Travolta has already signed to star in the lead as Binny Varbarino, a ninja and ex-gymnastics superstar who infiltrates James Buchanan High School, which is taken over by a cult called the "Sweat Hogs". Gabe Kaplan will be the supporting actor.
Principal photography is scheduled to begin earlier this year in Brooklyn, NY.
Took that from IMDB. But it's a joke...funny though.

Gym-freakin-kata!
Specs added for select discs...
GYMKATA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really wanted MIKE'S MURDER. :-(
I have been patiently waiting for "Looker" for years. I too hope it is the extended version that was shown during the late 80's and early 90's. Or at least the DVD is of the 'special edition' variety. Also, what happened to "The Prize"??? Paul Newman is our most cherished living actor - you would think they would get ALL of his classic titles out on DVD. The man is an american icon.

I would just be happy to have the movie!
It is rumoured to finally be in actual production for release; it was announced on Spielberg's site.

You've got to be kidding me. Still no Straight Time? It's only one of the most underrated films of the 1970s and one of Dustin Hoffman's greatest roles. These films are underwhelming to say the least.
I finally imported them. They are worth every penny.
Good lookin' classics, and just import the Leone releases, I did
Darn!

All bets are off since Fox took over distributing MGM titles from Sony. There have been a number of announced or rumored releases that have either been cancelled or postponed and not re-announced as of yet.

They all look pretty boring to me. Won't be getting any of these.

I think that Paramount actually does, Gabe, though I'm not 100% sure of that.

Illustrated Man was my favorite book as a kid. Never have seen the flick.

Where is The Prize (1963)??
Wow, I'm disappointed. I've only headrs of three of these title; being Angels in the outfield, Looker, and the arrangement. I won't get any.
Hopefully Looker will be the extended cut TV ran or at least have the deleted scenes as extras, are you listening Warner?
There Was A Crooked Man..., starring Kirk Douglas, is the 12th film that will be released. We should have a look at the artwork shortly.
I was kind of hoping for The Hand myself, Chaz, but I'm thrilled that both Looker and The Illustrated Man will be released.

I have waited and hoped for Gymkata for sometime.
Yakmala!
Yakmala!
Now where are those Kubrick DVDs Warner promised?
I'm glad the long overdue "Looker" is finally coming out, but I'm disappointed Oliver Stone's "The Hand" (1981) with Michael Caine isn't.
Yes, Gymkata made it!! The skill of gymnasitcs, the kill of karate!
I'm underwhelmed to say the least.
What a bunch of yawn material, except angels in the outfeild.
GYMKATA!!!
