This is interesting. Hopefully just the Black Freighter cut with the commentaries.

The only info I can find about the extras doesn't mention the Maximum Movie Mode, just new commentaries with Snyder/Gibbons, so you never know.
I might get the director's cut.
Quadruple dipping between the UK and the US, still happy with my US DC, simple, high def and a good use of 3 hours.
I'm hoping this DC isn't the US DC but the longer proper Director's Cut.
Thought Snyder said the DC was the proper one?
If he considers the non frieghter version as the proper directors cut, then he understood Watchmen less than I gave him credit for
Nice anti hero face cover art.
OK, why didn't the US get this for a cover? This was my favorite poster for Watchmen.
"What's that, Skippy? They're milking them like cows? But Skip, surely major companies wouldn't do that to the people who buy their product? Steady on now, Skippy - the reason they are releasing a few months later is so as to give the UK fans a chance to make an informed choice about which copy to buy. What do you mean that it is a cynical ploy to get them to buy it twice - especially those ignorant of the longer cut or that you can import the US, zone-free Blu-ray? No, of course they aren't going to pull the same thing with the Black Freighter version."

The PQ for the UK Blu-Ray release has been shown from captures to be better so interesting to find out if the UK DC follows that trend.

The US Director's cut IS the Director's Cut,(which this UK release should be), the Ultimate Cut is just another attempt to squeeze more money out of people. The Black Freighter was a mediocre animated feature, regardless of it's role in the graphic novel, it would make a horribly episodic movie even more episodic.
They might have this wacky idea of bringing the movie closer to the source material, but it's going to take more than shoe-horning in some c**p animation to do that.

I'll agree that Black Freighter as a standalone was underwhelming but in regards to editing it into the a longer cut, the movie and indeed the story of Watchmen needs it I think (even though the changes made for the movie adaptation takes away it's possible impact a little).
Also I still think they should have just gone with editing the BF Motion Comics clips in rather than doing funky modern animation. That kids reading a comic in the eighties afterall - not watching a Nine Inch Nails video. (But I remain open minded to how well this will work until I see it).
As for calling Watchmen "episodic", isn't that sort of the structure anyway? There’s no avoiding that surely? Not if you want to do it any sort of justice anyway.

The BBFC have a commentary with Dave Gibbons as being recently classified, was that on the US Director's Cut?
Nope. Adding more to the possibility of this DC being the BF version.
A tenner says that it's not the Black Freighter version. I'd bet one of my grannys on it, 'cept that they're both dead.
Running time is 187 minutes, so it's just the standard DC. I'm guessing the reason it doesn't have the 'Maximum Movie Mode' is because that's a Warner exclusive feature.
Well this release it utterly pointless
Well I knew it was coming so I could have held off, but it wouldn't have killed them to announce it at the time.
Wouldn't have killed them to provide a few new features as well. Ideally one long ass documentary about the actually making of the moive because frankly the journals don't quite cut it.
THAT is some AWESOME art.

I agree Chris, probably the same reason that Sony's UK release of Terminator Salvation won't have the Maximum Movie Mode.

So is Watchman DC only going to be available on Blu-Ray in the UK then???
Looks like it.
