YES! I *KNEW* THIS WAS COMING!!! It's a good thing I held out on buying anything other than the theatrical cut DVD...this is going to be worth every penny for a huge fan of the film such as myself. Fellow fans, celebrate!!!

Glad I holded off on a purchase of Watchmen when it first cam out and as WB are releasing it in US I will be importing it as it will likely be RFree.

Yeah me too. I can't bare to watch it again.

For the record, most of the stuff on here is from the previous releases (The Director's Cut, Black Freighter and Motion Comics) The only new things appear to be The Ultimate Cut (although it looks to be just The Director's Cut + Black Freighter, probably with some new bridging sequences) the two audio commentaries and the special features "Real Super Heroes, Real Vigilantes", "Mechanics: Technologies of a Fantastic World".
The director's cut is 186 minutes
The Tales of the Black Freighter is 26 minutes
This ultimate cut is 215 minutes, so it sounds like it'll be the director's cut spliced with Black Freighter.

YAY! I can't wait! My favorite movie this year. It so deserves an Academy award nomination for best picture. Loved it, loved it, loved it!
But I hate that cover. I do not like the pirate thing on the button. No good. :-(
I don't mind that they edited in Blak Frieghter, but why are they including The Motion Comic? I would think that most Watchman fans would have bought that when it first came out. Oh well. I'm just glad to have everything. :-)

Since I already have the DC, Black Freighter, and the Motion Comics, I won't be getting this as I see what it offers.
It would need to have the theatrical, DC, and DC + Black Freighter in it to make it worthwhile of upgrading.

I now know what I want for Christmas. I own the theatrical cut, so I can't wait to see what's added.

Because it's called a double dip.
Yeah I know. For dumbasses that waste their money a second time around.

"R.R." should have been Robert Redford and not Ronald Reagan. No offense to Reagan, but that change wasn't needed.
I'd buy this if it was priced as cheap as the Blade Runner 5-disc was. We'll see.
And of COURSE they would ruin the cover art with the digital disc banner. OF COURSE THEY WOULD!

I personally think they ruined the cover by not paying a little more so they use the smiley face logo on that button.
I already own the Motion Comics, Black Frieghter and Director's Cut on Blu-ray. So they better at least confirm more than one cut of the film on this release before I even think about buying it again. And adding the smiley face definitely wouldn't hurt.

Will this include the version that was on the previous release. And will the blu ray have that cool feature "maximum movie mode" ?

The best cover art for this piece would have to be a close up of the movie pin (much like the GN) Then then the pirate pin on the inside cover. We don't know if the cut is seamless integrated into the movie. Either way, now I know what to buy aside from the movie itself to create a 7 disk mega set. (half.com or some s**te

rocking
on the plus side- this might drive down the price of the director's cut, and this is largely the same, so win for me.

Looking at the math it doesn't look like we will get all the footage from the director's cut in this release. Guess I will have to buy that as well now.
Your math is a little off. 186 + 26= 212, which means even with the Black Freighter cut in it's still three minutes longer than the Director's Cut.
To quote a certain character.... D'oh!

Umm, folks...read the really BIG fine print there...
includes TALES OF THE BLACK FREIGHTER
woven into the DIRECTOR'S CUT of the film

this was announced when dir. cut blu-ray was out, months ago - so I don`t get all the "where did this come from" ! this will be my one and only Watchmen blu-ray - no double dipping ... pays to read the news.
Utlimate
Being I have the rest, hopefully I'll be able to buy the first disc on eBay.

You and the other guy who said the same exact thing are really dense aren't you?
We KNOW it has the new cut that's unnecessarily long, but it'd be nice to have the other "slim" DC version in the same damn set.
Btw, this set isn't exactly ULTIMATE now is it? It's missing Theatrical, original DC, and Under The Hood should be in the ULTIMATE cut as well.

This may sound like ignorance on my part but... I just bought this on BD and am curious as to how many repeat special features are identical. From the looks of it, the second disk is almost identical to the DC.
