This is surprisingly bare bones extras-wise. I was kind of hoping for a little more depth with maybe a featurette on the test screenings. This film was a success, so what gives? Maybe they'll announce more features down the road.

Pixarfan will be happy
I'm really REALLY happy yet EXTREMELY disappointed. I hope that the extras have simply just been unconfirmed, but if that short film is all we get............
So picking up the Blu-Ray/DVD Combo. I absolutely adore that idea and continue to support them!

I concur, those are the best. Cool artwork, and I loved this movie. Hope there are more extras, though.

I think I like this new Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack idea. That means if I ever get a Blu-Ray player (which I'm planning on by the end of 2010), I'll have that edition but still be able to watch the DVD until then. I hope more studios begin including such releases.
Finally! About time.
I actually enjoy Blu-Ray/DVD Combos. I have only one Blu-Ray player and a lot of DVD players including a portable DVD player and I can take the movie wherever I go and still enjoy the movie on a HDTV. Saves money that way.

not surprising on the extras-
adaptation was supposed to get a special edition after the bare bones superbit and that never happened-
this is likely to have the same fate.

I might blind buy this. The critics that I typically trust for movies including: Michael Phillips, Dustin Putman, Roger Ebert, and Kevin McCarthy all said this film was terrific. I rarely disagree with those guys' reviews. Plus I love the Blu-ray/DVD combo idea as well. I feel like I get my money's worth. It's also such a reliever because one of my friends only has a DVD player, so the Blu-ray/DVD combo is very useful. I wanted to see this film, but never got around to it.
I'll probably pick this one up.
This was very good. Will be getting.
Om my top 3 of the year and one of my favorite movies period. Will sooooo be getting this and they even picked my favorite poster, neat!
I can imagine some people disliking this movie but i actually heard of people who downright hated it, now thats absured haha

I'm all over this one!
sadly since it lists the DVD as $20, i'm guessing any extras announcement will be lackluster.
hopefully there will be a special edition eventually. great film and so much went into making it, just reading at spike jonze interviews, you know they have to have tons of behind the scenes goodness.

Cool. Going to see it thursday.. Damn that international schedule. Will probably pre-order this one via Amazon, hopefully they'll send it along with Fantastic Mr Fox because then I'll get both faster
Is it just me or does amazon do that, ship items that aren't supposed to be shipped yet with earlier shippings so they can save shipping costs? Shipship.
Didn't really care for the movie, so I shall pass on this one.
2nd favorite film of the year. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!
Best movie of the year since "Up." Loved it. Definitely Day 1 Purchase.
I actually like the artwork. Just curious about the 1-Disc Artwork. I'm sure there'll be plenty of special features to go along with.

looking at the small display pic they, it looks like it might be Max and Carol in the desert.

I too like the artwork. I would LOVE to see the other cut that the studio didnt approve. I guess its possible one day. It may be so much footage that they will just re-release a whole new cut
i hope other studios will do the combo dvd pack as well
The movie started off pretty routine, with the kid who just wants attention and all that, but once we get to the Wild Things, it's pretty amazing. I admit I got a lump in my throat towards the end. There were some scenes in the trailer that weren't in the actual movie though, I think like a classroom scene or something. They would have accounted for some of the other Wild Things.
I will pick this up the moment it is out.

I was really disappointed with this movie. The kid drove me crazy, once they got to wild thing land, things just go south. A child book turned into a movie that is not for kids. The book is max having fun with the wild things. This movie was not that book. It had no plot and the story was confusing. I am not sure what the director was trying to tell us. Didn't work for me or my brother.
Visually AMAZING, the monsters were beautiful, but that doesn't make a good movie.

Yes, I remember now - about the Sun burning out. It slipped my mind.

This was the most touching, original and beautiful film I've seen last year! Can't wait to have it on BD!!!
It was all a metaphor for life... All the wild things represent a feeling, and Max was figuring his 'life' out.

i really shouldn't comment, because this has been discussed to death, BUT, the main argument is, just because it doesn't talk down to kids, doesn't mean it isn't for kids. nothing says that in order for something to be a kid's movie it has to have bright colors and meaningless blather. plus- spike set out to make a movie about childhood. which he did. beautifully.
this was a favorite book of mine growing up, but if you go back and re-read it. the kid mouths off to his mom, is sent to his room where he plays, and is eventually brought dinner. kid learns nothing.

I will see this soon but I am wary it will dissappoint...
