Quote: WINGS OF DESIRE (Der Himmel uber Berlin) is one of cinema's loveliest city symphonies. Bruno Gatz is Damiel, an angel perched atop buildings high over Berlin who can hear the thoughts - fears, hopes, and dreams - of all the people living below. But when he falls in love with a beautiful trapeze artist, he is willing to give up his immortality to come back to earth to be with her. Made not long before the fall of the Berlin Wall, this stunning tapestry of sounds and images, shot in black and white and color by the legendary Henri Alekan, is movie poetry. And it forever made the name Wim Wenders synonymous with film art.

Criterion strikes again. I'd like to see a re-release of Salo. But that is one of the rarest Dvds.

Amazing news. A much superior film to City of Angels. I'm all over this one!

Salo was re-released from Criterion early this year.

Ah yes. Another release where finger sniffing pretension loves to rear it's head with gems like "SoooOOOoo much better than the American film that was only tangentially related to it!".
I'M still waiting for a US release of the 4 1/2 hour version of UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD to come to DVD (and Blu-Ray). That's the Wim Wenders film I want most. Also I wonder when SO FARWAY, SO CLOSE will see DVD and Blu-Ray.
Great great film. This is a first-day purchase for me.
Actually, 'Faraway, So Close' is out on DVD via Sony here in the States. Amazon has it in stock.
Might pick this one up.
Must own for me. One of my favorites, and I only have it on VHS.

However, I think I read somewhere it may be missing a scene taht is only in the VHS version. so I wish for a better version of it with Criterion-like extras too.

LOVE this movie! Cant wait!
Thank you FILM GOD! blu ray! I hope the release of Faraway, So Close will follow soon.
Amazing film, amazing cover art....Criterion does it again!
A definite must have. Just a pain that their Blu-Ray is region locked. As much as people aren't fans of City Of Angels, I absolutely love that film (as terrible as it is).
