This is the one with Bruce Campbell right?
Confirmation on Campbell.
Oh man, it sucks it had to go STV. And it's not even because it's a bad movie, it's just because for one it's not that mainstream and also they can't decide how to market it and don't want to put money into releasing it in theaters because it likely wouldn't be some big hit. I'm at least happy it's getting released though and I'm dying to see it! Should be great! I doubt it will be as great as MAY, but it will still likely be one of the best horror movies released this year. I will definitely try and push it at the video store and if we get the poster I'll insist that it goes up. I will rent it right away! Can't wait!
MAN I WAS WAITING FOR THIS TO COME OUT IN THEATERS!!
IM GETTING IT!!!
IM GETTING IT!!!
What the f**k happened to the theatrical release. McKey was screwed on this one.

Yeah, this movie even forced M. Night Shyamalan to rename his identically titled film to The Village, and while his got a wide release this one sat on the shelf for an eternity in movie terms.

I hope to make up for it Sony is nice enough to pack this disc with bonus features -- an audio commentary, at the very least.

Given the way the film has been treated by the studio and the supposed disdain the director has for MGM over the whole matter I'd be surprised if there was one, at least from the director anyways.

It's a shame how filmmakers put so much effort into a production, just to see it go straight to video. Maybe it's not gory enough to attract a young audience. Horrors a win or lose genre, considering the fact that movies can become cult hits, like Saw, or get released straight to video. Hopefully it finds an audience.

Perhaps the value of getting his thoughts on his movie down outweighs his hatred for MGM? I would be very disappointed to see this disc arrive with nothing on it, especially if it's good...or maybe McKee will have revenge (and a Special Edition) in the cards when he makes his third feature.

Just like everyone else, I've been waiting for this film forever. Unfortunetly though as reviews do pop-up I hear quite a few mediocre ones. Still can't wait to check it out.
That's horrible! I usually don't bother complaining about cover art, but it looks totally STV. This is depressing.
I think I will pick this one up. Has anyone seen The Masters of Horror film from this director? Any Good? Will there be a box set with all of them some time soon becuase thats what I'm waiting for.
It better have Mckee/Campbell commentary!
Its about time as I heard both positive and terrible stuff about this and I'd love to draw my own opinion...Hey Bruce Campbell is in it and thats always a plus!

I have. I watched SICK GIRL with a friend when it came out on DVD recently and we both loved it. If you're a fan of the film MAY then it's a must see. It's one of my very favorite Masters of Horror episodes and one of the only ones at this point that I just need to buy the DVD of from the store that has all of the extras on it. I'm dying to see see/hear all of the goodies from McKee, Bettis, Jaye Barnes-Luckett, etc... The other ones I have just been buying previously viewed from the video store because they include two episodes on a disc, but no extras. Besides, I don't care to have Deer Woman, which is the one Sick Girl is featured with. That is one of the worst MOH episodes I've seen. In fact, it is the worst one I've watched all the way through. Chocolate I didn't finish. Anyway, if you haven't seen the MOH episodes the best thing I can tell you is to rent them from Movie Gallery, where you get two on a disc. That's two hours of entertainment so it's well-worth the price of renting.
Anyway, just don't expect SICK GIRL to be straight-out horror. It's more like a sweet little romance with a horror twist. Still, definitely worth seeing! And for straight guys and lesbians it has full frontal female nudity and girl-on-girl action, which might give you some incentive to rent it
.
Eventually they are supposed to release a boxed set, but I'm not sure how they'll be doing it, and I imagine it's going to be quite expensive. I can't see it not having a retail price of over $100.

From Dread Central:
As you can see we now have a look at the art (ugh), thanks to DVD Active, and have learned that the features included will be a commentary with the director and stars, one deleted scene, and the featurettes "Girl Vs. Girl" and "Legend: On the Set with Bruce Campbell".

Yup, Sony just sent over the additional details and they've been added to the news item. Looks like McKee did a commentary afterall.
Like everyone else, I am proud to say
FINALLY!
FINALLY!
