X-Men: Days of Future Past's
more moderate Magneto helmet set, but they can't all be ridiculous. There is, of course, no release date yet, nor is the box art finalized at this time.

The 2D blu ray cover art is awful! I hope they change it.
The main poster cover really does make it look like Prof X is hovering by blasting fire out of his arse!

No mention of the Director's Cut that the producers said was coming? Don't tell me it's gonna be a separate double-dip release. That will annoy me and many others.
I had issues with the CGI too. For a movie that Fox has bragged about being their most expensive since Avatar, it certainly doesn't look the part (aside the future scenes which looked quite beautiful). The movie itself was just okay-ish for me. I've accepted the fact that we'll never get a truly great, 10 out of 10 X-Men movie as long as either Fox and/or Singer are involved.
Definitely one of my favorite films of this year, up there with Godzilla, Edge of Tomorrow, Captain America, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The CGI here was top-notch, all the way through.
I saw CG issues as well. The Vietnamese General that turned into Mystique was awful and forced. The title sequence was ill-conceived too but those were rendering issues not story issues. The CG house should be ashamed of the work they put out. I hope Hugh Jackman has another Wolverine film in him before he bows out.
I'll be the lone wolf here. I thought the movie was just ok. It was nice to see the old and new generations together in the same movie, but there were numerous continuity errors and the CGI was subpar at some points in the movie. For a flick with a $200 million budget I expected much better blending visuals.
Cool. Thanks!
Even though it would've been great to see more of Rogue, the subplot would indeed detract from the story. It makes perfect sense to have cut the scene.

thedaz, yeah! apparently Bryan Singer filmed (and completed the FX) a 10 minute long sequence that included Paquin's Rogue (she gets injured...not killed) but had to be cut for pacing or time or something. i've read that it's either going to be put back into the film (as an extended cut) or the sequence will be among the bonus features. if you notice in the opening credits, Paquin is one of the top billed stars yet she (in the final theatrical cut) only has a 30 second cameo. so most of her footage had been cut but Singer plans to show it to us in one form or another!!
here's what Singer says about the Rogue scene....
The Rogue subplot was originally there because I wanted a mission for the older Charles and Eric to do, something like Unforgiven – two last gunslingers, Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman – that kind of a mission for them. I just loved the idea of that. Nothing in the story necessitated that, but just for a lark, I thought it would be a cool thing to see, because we may never see it again.
When I initially wrote that, Kitty’s power was running out, and there was this super silly serum that was down in a farmhouse… it was terrible. I don’t even think it went to script, but it went to outline, and Matthew Vaughn said it was terrible, and he was right.
Then I thought that if her power was winding down, they needed something stronger or someone who could take over her power. This came from a conversation with Matthew, which was about no-one having the same power as her but then realizing there was someone who could take her power. I got chills. Rogue could be the McGuffin of that mission. (The McGuffin is a plot device in the form of some goal, desired object or other motivator that the protagonist pursues, often with little or no narrative explanation.) They’d have to get Rogue out of some dark scary place, and that’s what happens. It’s a really nice sequence, and it’ll end up on Blu-ray some way down the line.
But it does not service the main story. I thought it would increase the urgency and the stakes of the plot in the future, but it actually does the opposite, because it makes you feel like there is an answer out there. You think once Rogue gets here, we’ll have an unlimited amount of time. The ticking clock that we’d established with Kitty getting wounded and losing her powers… well, Rogue would show up and press stop on the clock. So for all of those narrative reasons, there was this ten-minute subplot that had to go.”

Just came back from the movie tonight. As an X-Men fan, I thought it tied all the movies together quite brilliantly. Nice touch at the end too, righting one or two of the wrongs of X-Men 3, may I say?
There's a deleted fight scene with Rogue? I'd love to see more of the original cast. The movie really picked up a notch with just a glimpse of any of them.

Great movie. Not too big a fan of the cover art, though.
I really like the cover art. The movie was really good too.
