Looks to me like the consumer choice" is really just a which side will you shoose to display, which is kind of funny, since many people's collections show spine out.
yup, hope that this is the case: that it will be a double sided cover with hopefully a digipack inside!
I absolutely loved this film, one of the best of the year so far. Matthew Vaughn can do no wrong in my book.

sadly thats becoming a big trend and disney just stepped it up a notch...they are releasing the dvd of Pirates 4 almost a month AFTER the blu-ray release. i can so see studios start doing that regularly.
Wow, that's the first I heard about the Pirates DVD delay, though I can't say I'm surprised. When DVD first started taking off, studios started delaying the VHS releases for purchase (they were still available for rental).

Sad I missed this in the theater, but I guess Sept. 9th is not that long of a wait...
As for the DVD features, the DVD section at Fox Connect mentions that "Children of the Atom" will be included. If that 8-part documentary is pretty in-depth, I wouldn't mind that being the only bonus feature.
But having the theatrical trailer and a commentary by Jane Goldman & Matthew Vaughn would be better...

But I think I'll be saving my money for both "Super 8" and "Pirates of the Caribbean 4," but it is very nice to see them both hitting shelves a few days apart from one another.
However, I mentioned not wanting to own "Thor," I will probably skip the Blu-Ray release for this one as well.

i personally dont get it because 90% of people who buy movies could care less about extras. they are just the average joes wanting the movie. those of us who do collect and love extras are such a minority. it would make more sense to have the same set of extras on both as that 90% is still gonna buy the dvd regardless. especially considering how much cheaper dvds are since blu has gotten mainstream.
That is true. Those who buy DVDs want to see the movie but don't want to worry about extras. I like to check out the movie AND the extras, but like you said, most of us who do are in the minority.

According to the DVD art on Fox Connect's website, the Erik/Charles exclusive packaging extends to that too (nowhere near as good as the Blu-ray, sadly). And during the Comic Con period (July 21-27), you apparently get a free T-shirt if you preorder from Fox Connect or at Comic-Con.

No Matthew Vaughn commentary track smells like double-dip to me. Much like X-Men 1.5. 20th Century Fox also double-dipped Fantastic Four so they're definitely not above doing it for this release. Be interesting to see what the retail exclusives will be, Target usually has 20th Century Blu/DVD combos just like The A-Team and Black Swan so safe to expect the same for this one.
Ahhh.... too bad, no blu-ray/DVD combo.
Fantastic movie but I was really hoping for director's commentary.
I loved First Class compared to Wolverine and X-Men 3. Happy that it is hitting Blu-ray and DVD two days before my next birthday
The more I think about First Class the more I love it. I've been an X-Men fanatic since I was probably 10 years old, and I don't give a s**t about the stuff that doesn't line up with the original stories, because they captured the essence of the characters. If anything the weakest element is the quick wrap up that drags the story into the continuity.
I missed this one in theaters because I didn't think it'd be that great, but after all the impressive critical reception and fanbase, I'll rent this one. I also have enjoyed the director's previous works.
The 'choose a side' gimmick is good, but I have a better idea. Let it become a versus between BD & DVD with Xavier cover for the BD and Magneto for the DVD. Also, give each one of them different extras focusing on each side. I guarantee that every fan will buy both edition while the casual DVD buyers will get DVD edition they can proud of. Good marketing, isn't it?

I can't be more agree with you, that I really hope the cover art is front and back instead of "let you choose" whichever you prefer, or buy them both...
Honestly, this is one of the best cover art of the year.

Good movie overall....but I don't have enough fingers to count the numerous continuity errors.
Great movie. Will definitely purchase.
I'll be picking up the Xavier cover as the film is after all called "X-MEN" First Class and not Rise of the "BROTHERHOOD."

I'll get the Magneto cover so I can swoon over Fassbender.
Quiet you.

i like how every one of the mutants is obviously posing on the cover, like its taken from some photo shoot. but if you look at the image of the human government girl, looks like they simply cut and pasted a shot from the movie. guess they didnt get her to pose for the photographer. lol
but yeah this was definately pretty good and totally a purchase when it comes. i dont understand their "choose your cover" comment since the spine changes side for each photo, impliying Magneto is the back cover but maybe there will be another version where he's the front and thats what they mean.

Day one purchase. I really hope the cover art is double-sided (McAvoy on front, Fassbender on back).
Moral of X-Men First Class... All mutant women are evil.
Other than them completely futzing around with the characters, this looks pretty fun. Mystique wasn't part of the X-Men. Professor X shouldn't have hair at this point in time. Havok shouldn't be born, or at the very least he should be a newborn. Angel, Psyclops, Jean Grey, and Beast were the first class. And, with the exception of Beast, the movie got the story all wrong. They could have made it be just as good of a movie and done properly.
I don't think this is a "pick your cover" when you buy the product, I think one is the traditional front and one is what would be on the traditional back. Take a look at the spine flip for the Magneto side. You are basically looking at the back of the box.

What is going on with that artwork?
Can't say much about the film as I haven't personally seen it yet.

Might be tempting to pull a switcheroo if the case artwork is the same. Swap the slipcover from one version to the other, so you kind of have both. But I almost always buy online, so I guess I won't be doing that.
Finally! Thank God it's coming out soon! X-Men First Class was one of my most anticiapted movies of the year, but since there was literally a new movie coming out every weekend, I never found the time to watch this. This movie looked ssoo good, better than the other X-Men movies and I hope it is. Even critics and some of my friends say it's the best of the X-Men films. One of the best films of the year as well! I'm gonna blind buy this on blu-ray. They could of gone better on the art cover, though.
The artwork sucks though it comes out just when football is about to start (if lockout is lifted).
Missed it. Want to see it. If Fox was smart, they would put different features specific to each side (Magneto vs X) on each edition. I guarantee the uber fan would buy both...
...and the others would be ticked. lol

I know someone that will buy both covers. I'll make fun of her for it too.

I so wanted to see this in theaters. September isn't too far off, so I'll just wait and use one of my free rentals on it instead.
