Well, The movies are pretty much based around what Wolverine does, not so much professer X. Although Patrick Stewart is my favourite actor, he's not exactly the MAIN main character, everything happens with wolverine in the scene.
Where is Eastonia? :-0
ya rite u idiot! this is my favourite movie of all time!!! how could NE1 NOT like it?! its awesome!!!
ps: Go Patrick Stewart!

The most dissappointg movie of the summer! It has the worst thought most predictable ending of all, it's not enough, and WHERE THE HELL ARE MY SENTINELS!!!
I'll probably wait for the SE that Brett Ratner's producing. Although that collector's edition looks kinda neat.
Hey have you seen the movie clips on the x-men dvd website? I don't remember seeing some of those scenes in the movie.

Wrong information, even though I love DVDActive, this site reviewed the dvd and it DOES infact feature DTS, and not only DTS but DTS-ES.

Fun movie, not as good as X2 or even the first. But lighten up already. It didn't have a chance from the beginning since Singer is so loved.
Doesn't that have it on the R2 as well?
Excuse me I typed it wrong. Doesn't the R2 two disc set have exactly what the R3 set does?

People are criticizing the screenwriters for the lackluster story, but it seems that they have forgotten that Zak Penn had co-written the screen story for "X2" with Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris. Penn was the only screenwriter holdover from "X2" when Singer, Dougherty and Harris left to do "Superman Returns". (He and Simon Kinberg co-wrote "Last Stand" together, it wasn't a draft by the former being rewritten by the latter.)
Of course, Penn had also co-written lackluster films such as "Elektra" and "Suspect Zero", so his screenwriting skills are mixed at best.

Well, I'm a R2 customer anyway so I'm getting the UK 2-Disc version. I sure am glad that we are not treated like the R1 customers.
I'm getting the UK 2 disc set. That way I'll have it!
Why would Fox not make this a 2 disc. It made so much money at the box office and yet they dont even give us the proper DVD treatment. There should at least be a behind the scenes featurette....and they are not even including the theatrical trailer...
Yep lots. Check out the R4 link above and R2 link below (about 4 hours worth):
UK: http://www.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2.php?prod...
USA: http://www.cd-wow.us/detail_results_2.php?produ...
* HK Region 3 - 2 Disc SE
* £11.99 delivered from the UK site
* $22.95 delivered from the USA site
* All the 2 Disc SE Extras
* AND English DTS
I'll preorder for sure but next month it's to early to preorder now.
If you have a multiregion player it's a no brainer, why pay more for the R1 which has A LOT less extras and NO DTS?

Have any of you heard how much extra stuff there will be on the 2 disc version?
X-Men 3
The R3 Version of Xmen 3 apparently has a DTS Soundtrack. Was visting www.cdwow.com and they have it up for pre-order for £12. Same features as the R2 2 Disk Edition.
Might be worth visiting.
Might be worth visiting.
Yeah me too
As suspected R4 is getting the 2 Disc version straight away, expect the UK R2 to follow suit. With the R1 sometime later:
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/788067
I'll be getting the 2 Disc version and if an Extended Cut comes I'll upgrade to that too.

Yeah I'm buying the UK version as well because it has two discs.

okay I own the fist two, but defenetly buying the trilogy, if it comes with more than 3 disks (this means bunch of extra matirial.
They have all the extra features...they sell the two disc in the UK but I think it's just the same. eventhough I'm in the US I'll buy it...but is the UK two disc worth it?
The collectors editon in the US is two disc.
great movie......not really a collector's item. going to wait for the double dip
Ezy DVD do have some excelent tin cases....
than just order the R2 2 disc edition
F#&% I can't believe Fox is doing this! I'm in denial but i'm almost positive a SPECIAL "Adamantium Clawed Edition" (or something stupid like that) will come out next year!
i've been waiting for this DVD and I was hoping for a 2 DISC set...I'm very disappointed. I was thinking about getting the CE but if the comic book is the only thing that makes the two versions different I think I'll just get the One disc "Special Edition" I'm only buying it because the movie's the bomb and because I can't wait to have it in my hands...but I don't know what I'll do when the 2 disc special edition comes out next year or later on...we all know it's coming....ON THE OTHER HAND! I'm glad to see that Jean Grey has FINALLY made it into an X-Men DVD cover! But I'm still not happy that she's behind Storm....just cuz Halle plays her. GOSH! Jean will always be better than Storm! FOX SUCKS for double dipping!

This movie is not as good as the first two but it will have to join the other two in my collection anyway. The single disc art is god awful (a dvd with a quote from Maxim on the cover is not ending up in my house) - two disc edition it is.
Well...no dts...and it's an god-awful movie...so I think I'll pass, not worth completing the trilogy just one you want to forget like Aliens vs. Predator.
amazon UK and play.com are listing the R2 as a 2-disk
the region 4 edition has finally been announced:
http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/788067
Disc Two:
* Director Brett Ratner’s production diary
* Documentary on evolution of X-Men Trilogy
* 3 featurettes, including making of Golden Gate Bridge scene
* 8 vignettes on special effects, fly training, weapons
* And much more!
these are from the tin version exclusive to ezydvd:
FRONT

BACK

i'm glad we're getting a 2-disc version straight up, but it's a shame the US will probably have to wait until wolverine comes out.

I think the cover looks better now that I can see it better. I just wish they didn't change the trilogy box so much, becuase it looked a bit better before. The CE art takes the crown though. I hope the eventual 2-Disc art is good.
This movie was just plain bad. It had a good start but fell apart at the halfway point. I blame the studio not Ratner or the writers.
Is it going to have Xmen or Xmen 1.5 in the Trilogy set?

This is one of the year's best. The people who worship Singer and bash this film can screw off. It rapes Superman Returns. Must buy.Have you seen V For Vendetta, united 93, or pirates of the caribean 2 this is not the best movie of the year. I'm not a huge singer fan but I still fell that Xmen 2 is the best and out of those movies this doesnt compare. now I liked xmen 3 but I felt it was rushed and could have been so much beter if they wanted to be by the way ill rent this maybe pick it up wen x3.2 comes out
I would replace Pirates 2 with Superman. POTC was just as bad as X3 but more fun... and it was funnier.

I'll give you "V is for Vendetta". It is definitely one of the year's best. And although I haven't seen "Flight 93" yet (just couldn't), everyone I knew who has said it was the year's best. But "Pirates 2" was absolute C-R-A-P! Which pains me to say because I ***loved*** the first one. Was even at the first show for the sequel. It was just a mess. I'm hoping it's the "Temple of Doom" of the Pirates trilogy.
I think even those who hate "X-Men 3" would say it would make a decent rental. At the very least. Again, I enjoyed it a great deal. But my money is on "Superman Returns" as the best movie of the year. And if you haven't seen it at an IMAX theater. GO!
I know this is a thread for "X-Men: The Last Stand" but I have to give a side note to the guy who said "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" was a load of c**p that didnt make any sense. Dont judge it to harsh because its only half of a movie, you have to see the third one because the story is not finished. things that seem pointless could end up being the most important part of the triolgy. just wait and see, I'm right. people who hated Part 2 will look back and say "o so thats why that happened" and have a new appreciation for it. Ok go back to X-Men talk now!
Um, no. And that made no sense. I judge a movie individually based on it's writing, direction and acting. Are you telling me "Exorcist II" was good until we saw "III"? Or "The Matrix Reloaded" couldn't be judged until we saw "Revolutions"?? For me, and this is my opinion, "POTC2" was a mess. The pacing was no where near as brisk as the first. In fact it dragged so much, I kept looking at my watch. I also didn't find Depp's Jack Sparrow as entertaining or charming as I did in the first film. I thought the special effects (although great) were too much. I just didn't find the movie fun or interesting on any level.
But back to "X-Men 3", to keep it on topic, I would love to see Singer back on board with the spin off series one day. In addition to a Superman sequel (or two).

Well I guess I can settle for a Dolby Digital EX track. The artwork sucks for the single edition though. Much rather ahve the CE but don't think I want to pay an extra $10 for cool cover art and a comic book.

overall I like the cover, but I hate the quote, it just sounds silly when you say it out loud. I would have rather seen nothing there, but if they must they should put the tagline, "Take a Stand", that would have been cooler. But anyways I cant wait to get this, I love the X-Men films!

I enjoyed Superman Returns much more than X3. For that matter, I think I liked last year's Fantastic Four better than X3.
I will likely get SR the week of release. But I'll wait for X3 to turn up used at Blockbuster; it's not worth paying full price IMO.

Amen to Frank The Rabbit I was surprised with all the positive posts here....man they pretty much pulled a MK: Armageddon on us with this one. I was looking for Anderson in the credits somewhere. They should have waited on this one. The movie seemed rushed so I guess they thought effects would fill in the holes.
hm, I hope it will be different. I am buying the R2NL 2 disc release, that's practically almost the same as R2UK, so can't wait to see it.

they messed up on the 1-disc art soooo much. thank God, they're putting the poster as the CE art. Might pick that one up. this movie was just an 8/10 for me.

I think the CE will include the 5.1 EX track... on another site it says the CE will have all the features on the regular widescreen edition (the DVD will probably be packaged in a slipcase with the comic book). It's more than likely both editions will have the 5.1 EX track.

That review quote on the cover just about sums up everything that was wrong with this film - action over plot. Best X-Men film yet... Yeah right.

"Bah!" on the lack of DTS. Also, they should just lose the regular 5.1 track for the 5.1 EX track.
I won't answer that. Oh wait I just did since a nonanswer is still an answer.
Anyone else notice that they couldn't bear to write out X3? Everyone was referring to it as X3 but even on the spine of the regular edition it just reprints the graphic of the claws over the X rather than just spelling out "X3." On the trilogy box, it's "X2: Xmen United" but not "X3: Last Stand" "Xmen: Last Stand." Weird.

Who do I have to blow to get this on HD DVD?

I am still going to wait for the X3.2 release that is sure to come. While the extras are decent, there still seems to be some holding back on the real goods here.
I don't understand, like with Potter, why companies can not create unified cases for movies in franchises. The cover art for this is so much different than the previous two. It probably doesn't matter much to the companies, but to the collector, it is nice to have a franchise set that looks like it belongs together. I know Fox is still pissed at Singer, but they don't have to go out of their way to make sure X3 looks nothing like the other two movies because of some piss contest with the former director.

So there will be an "enhanced" Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX track? On another site the sound specs were English DD5.1-EX, as well as French and Spanish Dolby Surround tracks. (The words "Dolby Digital 6.1 ES" makes me think there is a DTS track included.)
Further details, and highres artwork added. Fox has confirmed no DTS, although a Dolby Digital 6.1 EX track will be included instead...
Im quite excited on this release. It isnt a 2-Disc release but there are some nice features in this DVD.
I'll get the Collector's set 'cause it's the only one with nice art.
Guess I'm one of the few people who liked both "Superman Returns" and "X-Men 3". Loved them actually. Though I thought "SR" was much much beter. About it making less than "X-Men 3", is this really such a surprise? Superman's movie franchise was dead dead dead. The last one being released 19 years ago. Each film made less money. Not to mention got worse in quality. I'm also one of the few people that thought "Superman II" was good, not great. Can wait to see Richard Donner's cut this Fall. The last "Superman" film ("The Quest for Peace"
only made 15 million at the box-office. So, budget aside, 185K and counting for "Superman Returns" is pretty astounding.

Shoul have mentioned this earlier.....those covers blow.
Let's face it, both SR and X3 were disappointing. X3 had lots of flashy effects to keep the kiddies entertained but the writing was pish. Halle Berry was dreadful too. Superman Returns just rehashed the plot of the first film, Lex wants real estate, uses Kryptonite to hurt Superman, girlfriend feels sorry for Superman and lets Lex down. Lois was completely miscast too, where's the 70's skank lookalike? The first two with Chris Reeves are the best. For the record, the only decent film this year so far is V for Vendetta.
Not that we need yet another opinion on this film here, but my belief is that it brings up such angry emotions in some viewers because it started out great and totally fell apart half way through. Perhaps if the whole film would've been awful the people who hated it would have an easier time dismissing it. From a DVD purchase standpoint it creates real problems for me because I want that first half. Maybe I'll just utilize the 'stop' button.
Just dissapointed with it. I didn't hate it and as a stand alone movie it's o.k., but there's so much more they could have done with these characters and storylines they introduced. I am pissed at Singer for leaving X-Men to do Supes, but theat doesn't prevent Superman Returns from being a better film.
Also, since Fox is the most predictable studio ever concerning Double-Dips, I'll just wait for the inevitable 2-Disc 6 months later.

The LEAST Fox could've done is gotten BryanSingerand his writers from the second movie (Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris) to do a story outline or something. Like I said before, the third made little to NO effort to carry over story elements and the cliffhangers from the second movie....and I'm glad to see most people on here agree with me. I love this site and respect just about everyone's opinions on here (much better than the 5 year-olds on Aint-it-Cool.com), and I was getting worried about the positive reviews from the first few commentators. Good to know I wasnt the ONLY one to recognize this as a "vomit-burp" of a movie.
the only times I get 2 discs editions is when that's the only version of a film out. I don't believe in paying extra cash for a 2 discs edition if there's a single disc. I mean, if I do watch the special features, I just scam through them, and, only watch once, if that. So, I'll be just fine on Oct. 3rd when the single disc of The Last Stand comes out. Also, the cover art isn't all that bad. And, I'm sure that's just a rough cut of the cover art anyway.

Why buy a movie that you thought sucked? Just as I said earlier, Fox knows they can sell these DVDs on name alone even if someone hated the film!!!

You, sir, hit the nail on the head!

Yes, you absolutely can have your own opinion, as I can also. Just because I said that I didn't understand why anyone would be willing to buy it does not mean that I said you COULD NOT buy it. Of course, if you like it you can go out and buy it. I was just suggesting that we should not let the studios profit off of the X-Men name because they know that the fans of the previous entries (which I am) will buy it (which I will not) simply because of the title whether or not there is any real quality (ie cohesive plot) to the film.

First of all, X3 was pretty cool!
Second, I think Fox will include DTS sound. There have been a few times lately that Fox would only say that an upcoming DVD will have Dolby Digital...and by release day...or even ON release day....that the DVD has DTS after all.

In the end Singer had to choose and he went with Superman since he loves the character and thought he had a good idea. In the end I would have liked to see him stay with X-Men, but he saved Superman from the horros of McG directing it. By the way, while I liked X-Men: The Last Stand, Superman Returns was way better and is one of the best movies of the year. Well then I guess what I'm trying to say is that Bryan should have stuck with X3, because of his commitment to the fans. Then again, who cares about the hand that feeds you these days. Plus, I do think that Bryan could have worked out a deal with Warner to wait for him.

Hmmmm....
I prefer quality over quantity. Little Man beat Clerks 2 last week at the box office. Does that make Little Man a better cinematic achievement or of any value? Most of your mainstream movies kills the independent circuit right down the middle...does that make the mainstream movies BETTER?!?!
Anyone that says X-MEN 3 is the best movie of the year are obviously blinded people that completely ignores the flaws within.
As for Superman...personally, I preferred Supes Return over X3. Why? It was longer...so I got my f**king money's worth. It was executed much more efficient. It had more of a satisfying climax. And the writing was fairly solid.
Besides effects, and effects alone...is there any good qualities of X3?

LOL. Far from the year's best. Maybe even one of the worst. Again, Superman was a FAR superior film. Not as much action as X3, but that's definately not a bad thing.

X3 was the biggest dissapointment of the year. Awful script. Forced Acting. But some action scenes were cool, only some. Some were downright boring, definately the worst of the series, but I might pick up the awful looking one-disker just for a couple scenes that worked. Superman is a far superior film... FAR.
As an avid reader of the comic I was really pissed off by this movie, it changed characters (callistro) for the sake of having mutants with powers. It used the juggernaut purely for muscle, ignoring the fact he's not even a mutant, and the fact he's charles half brother, I felt Kelsey Grammar was wasted as the beast, he could been so much more cool, more quirky, but he was a one trick pony. And the ending, more then the rest of the movie, pissed me off.
How can you people expect many action scenes in a movie where they have to introduce the characters first. Just look at batman begins the same amount of action as returns. Both movies where incredible.
The sequels will be action packed Singer said it himself at comic can and Bale has said the same about batmans sequel

This movie was better than SUPERMAN RETURNS. That movie was not what I expected
You don't get it, Singer was forced to choose between X-Men 3 and Superman. Well, why I do believe that FOX did jump the gun on this film, you can't really blame them for wanting to make it. I mean after X2 people (Like me) really wanted the next entry and it had already been two years and not much progress happened. Then, when they were just about ready Bryan Singer leaves! Now Bryan Singer is a very good director, even though he has a little problem with pacing, and a bigger problem with action (the action in X1 was very lackluster, even SR's action was nothing very spectacular), he shouldn't have left the franchise that he started and intended to finish. In one of the X2 extras he said that the day X2 came out people were going up to him asking about X3 already, he had a commitment to the fans and he broke it! Why not let Superman wait a bit more? I mean if he really wanted it and if WB really wanted him, why not wait? So as a fan I have lost a good deal of respect for Singer, and I always knew that X3 was going to be a bigger financial success over Superman (even my friends always said I was wrong, but look who's laughing now). Had he waited to do superman perhaps it would have been a greater success because of X3. Anyway, FOX is at fault, but I say that Singer has a hand in it as well. For once, Brett Ratner is pretty much innocent.
So no 2-DISC?
khelinski wrote: One thing that is clear here, is it isn't as good cinematically, or on a substance level, as the second film. I guess it's true, the third part in the trilogy is always the weakest. That isn't necessarily the case. I mean, look at the Lord of the Rings as a whole - the third act is without a doubt, the best. But looking back at the trilogies of movies, it stands to be true. Godfather. Star Wars. The Omen (the fourth does not count, in my book).
In any case, the special effects of X3 stands alone as the best of all three films. That goes without saying. There are a lot of jaw-dropping moments that involve the special effects.
And like most movies, when style is being used more, substance lacks. And that is the case for this film. Not to mention doing something a lot of comic-book geeks fear in a comic book movie, stuffing too much in one package deal.
Certainly, it's no B&R. It has cheesy lines, but the film itself is not cheesy. There are some silly moments, but the film itself, is not silly. On the other hand, it could have been so much better. And once again, I completely blame the studio. Why is it, time is more spent on the predecessor, than the films that follow? Terminator 3. Jurassic Park 3. Both horrible attempts resulted as a piss poor script, a rush production, and an impossible dead-line, just to make fast-cash, when a better, bigger, and ultimately history-in-the-making film could be made instead, if time was spent more on the substance of the story. What was Chris Rock's point at the Oscars a couple of years ago, "WAIT!"
Because Bryan Singer left X3 to go to something that was actually needed a little more, Fox hand-picked the first director it can get, and rushed the production, just to make a point.
I like Brett Ratner. And I don't blame him for the flaws of this film. I blame the studio, and the writers.
Even at the moment my eyes saw the film for the first time, I made mental notes on the flaws.
A) we go from one subplot to another. This was done in the first, but was handled much better. For instance, Angel. We see a back-flash of Angel as a kid. It's a given, when this occurs, that Angel plays a big role in the film. NOPE! One of my co-workers said it best, "they could've gotten anyone to do Angel, at that rate, what a waste of Ben Foster". I completely agree.
B) the Phoenix sub-plot was also mis-handled. We really don't get a clear idea on this tragic character. The way the writers handled her, it was almost as a complete knock off of Carrie, in so many ways. In fact, expanding on that...I was waiting for a punch-line like, "Don't get the Phoenix angry, you won't like me when I am angry."
C) the "cure". one thing that was remarkable about X2, was its subtle allegory on the gay commute. so ideally, when an idea like "a cure to make mutants non-mutants to the norm", the subtle issue here would be unmistakable as an emotional and hard-hitting thing to watch. and ultimately, this is where "the war" would come in at, which was foreshadowed the whole entire film. and yet, we see a few protests, and a slight little "march", THAT'S IT.
D) Rouge. She played such a huge role in the first film, and as the series winded down, her role got trimmed to just basically a cameo. The whole love triangle bit could have also been executed a little more. I mean, come on...we got a guy who can't touch his girlfriend, and if he does, he'll die. That's perfect melodrama right there. And yet, he is played off like a typical horn-dog. As a result, I had no feel of this entire sub-plot one bit. In fact, by the end of the film, when she got her "abortion" (those that seen the movie, will get the pun on that!), I thought to myself, who-cares.
E) there are also continuity problems. in one single scene, it goes from day to night in matter of seconds. And I know I am not the only one that noticed it.
A film that is by all accounts, a slightly above average summer film. Nothing more, nothing less. I did expect more...and was somewhat disappointed. If anything, the film should have been longer. 30 to 40 minutes longer, me thinks. Maybe, just maybe, the Phoenix story line could be perfected to its rightful potential. The issues with the "cure" could have been played around a little more. Angel could have had more screen-time, so we as an audience, can actually CARE about him. And even the love triangle bit would be slightly better as a whole. It's amazing what time can do. That's still a lot to cover in a two hour movie. But hey, multiple subplots worked for LOTR and Star Wars, it can work with the "X" series. It's all about quality in writing and pacing. You can go on forever with one single sub-plot, but you can't jump from one to another with unsatisfying consequences.
In conclusion, I enjoyed this movie greatly, but find, like a lot of films, the foundation sloppy. And the foundation is the writing. Great movies aren't made with a solid cast or an expensive budget....it's made with a fantastic script. You would think, Hollywood has grasped this by now...after all these years of failed attempts. Guess not.
I agree 100000% about everything you just said. Well put.
I read an interview with Bryan Singer and he said that he went straight to Fox and said, directing "Superman Returns" has been my dream project and I am leaving "X-Men: The Last Stand" to do it. But that does not mean I want to abandon the film and the series. He said that he was going off to make "Superman Returns" and then when that is complete he was going to come back to make "X-Men: The Last Stand". But Fox, had to be greedy and get it out in 2006 so they really rushed the film and there the foundation of the script was weak because they tried to incorperate things from "X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United" in along with new things. This film had so much potential, but sadly Fox ruined it.
In any case, the special effects of X3 stands alone as the best of all three films. That goes without saying. There are a lot of jaw-dropping moments that involve the special effects.

One thing that is clear here, is it isn't as good cinematically, or on a substance level, as the second film.
Really? I read an interview a few months ago asking him if he has footage he cut from "X3" for time reasons from the movie and he said specifically that everything he shot was in the film (save for one extended sequence he cut for time reasons). If we get an extended edition of X3, chances are that scene will be in there and nothing else (I'd be surprised if there was more footage than what was claimed to be).
The standard artwork stinks (too many people on it), but the collector's edition artwork is amazing and what should've been the artwork for the regular DVD. I'll get the CE instead.
However, it's sad to see that so many people say that "Superman Returns" was a disappointment and that they prefer "X3" to it. SR had some incredible action sequences that eclipse that of X3 and while it was a talky film, it kept me riveted from beginning to end. In fact, many people raved about "Batman Begins" and didn't like "Superman Returns" because it didn't have "enough action". In fact, "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns" had roughly the same amount of big action sequences.
"X3" is an entertaining, yet shallow, movie and none of the big twists and character deaths never really moved me. "Superman Returns" is a film that had both style and substance (and had scenes that nearly moved me to tears); "X3" is a movie that got by on style.

This film was pure c**p from beginning to end. It had a grand total of two scenes that had the same quality as the two previous movies. And while Superman Returns was just barely decent, at least it felt like a real film and not some rushed tv production.
Not terrible, not great just sticks somewhere between X1 and X2. Juggarnaut was great but they forgot about him at the end, Kelsey Grammer didn't quite portray Beast even though he was perfect to portray him, Famke Jannsen seemed to be too inhuman, Storm's big role is all forgotten at the end, Colossus is never used and portrayed badly, No Nightcrawler etc. My X3 complain list goes on and on. The flick made me even worry that all the next blockbusters could be screwed up: Superman, Transformers, Spiderman 3... I don't hate Brett Ratner for this, but I wouldn't let him direct another comic movie. I MAY buy this, but only because it's X-men.
I was so amazed how well this film turned out. The webmaster of a site I visit frequently hit it right on the head in his review: This was in fact a revenge project against Bryan Singer for leaving during pre-production to do Superman Returns. This film was written, filmed, and rushed out the gate to beat Superman to theaters, and is much better, IMO. Even though everyone I saw it with griped about everything not being accurate to the comics, it all worked as a film. Great acting, great story, SPECTACULAR visual effects, awesome music (in my car right now, LOL) this has been my 2nd favorite film of the summer. X-Men was good, X2 was excellent, this was really good.

Love the artwork - great summer popcorn flick. I'll get the collector's edition.
Believe R3 will get the 2-disc w/ collectable pkg. just like the HK Fantastic Four w/ model...
Gonna be getting it at some point but not yet right away.
I already own the 4 disc set from the first two part, so I kinda expected that a 6 disc trilogy set was gonna be released? Ow well, maybe later :D

Play are advertsiing the R2 version as '2 disks' so I will be picking that one up I think.

Buddy, you are just pissing off the "Superman Returns" fans here (including myself). You are asking to be flamed, and you really don't want that.
I liked the movie, but like the first, it wanted to cram in as much story and characters in a short running time as possible. The second one was better in terms of a better story and scope, but the third one was better-paced and a bit more satisfying than the first. If anyone is going to put the blame on someone, it is the screenwriters (Brett Ratner did a fair job of maintaining the look, overall acting and tone of the first two films, but he can be blamed for wanting to keep the running time under two hours) for trying to do too many things at the same time. Still, I like it.
I prefer "Superman Returns" (as that movie had a more dramatic story and better-paced) over "X3", but the DVD release stinks of a double-dip -- they should've released a 2-disc set from the get-go (like "X2"

I'm with everyone else. The "Collector's Edition" is so over the top lame, that there is sure to be a double dip. I'll just rent the single disc to satisfy my need to watch the movie until then.
I smell a double dip folks. There is no doubt we will be a X3.2, no doubt about it.
I never got to see this, but from everyone I know who did see it loved it. I personally can't wait to see it on DVD. Definite rental, but will hold off purchasing until the "real" 2-disk is released.

Exactly Stephen I couldn't agree more, especially when it was 30 odd minutes shorter than Part 2 (X2 - 130 minutes, X-Men 3 - 100 minutes, neither exact times).
I definate buy, but I'd say there was issues with this move. I liked it, but they tried to cram to much into the film, and therefore did not have time to develope the individual stories as good as they could have. There was enough 'ideas' in this flick for three movies. Most of it rocked, but the rest just did not have time or room to rock. So much in so little time.

How long ago did you watch them? There's no way X-Men 3 is as good as the previous 2, particularly X-Men 2. Both the previous films created a real 3-D world we can believe in, with real life like characters. In the case of X-Men 2 this world is opened up even further.
Agreed X-Men 3 is better than most think but it's story is weak in many places, opting for action over story.
elle_driver wrote: just don't like Brett Ratner and decide to hate, or be disappointed by, his movies before they actually see them...
Agreed most don't give Ratner a chance but that is because whilst he was perfect for the Rush Hour films anything weightier he has proven he can't handle it.
I liked Red Dragon but that film was saved mostly because of the excellent cast and source material than any directing talent. The X-Men world is a big in-depth one Ratner struggles.

Agreed that DVD stinks of a re-release. Where's the rumoured extended cut? Where's the DTS? Where's the second disc of extras?
I'm waiting to see what's released internationally, fingers crossed the UK at least gets the proper DVD.
Also agreed the cover art is a bit lame.
Angel never wore an X-Men suit and that Trilogy box set just looks like all 3 in a box (i.e - not a proper box set). I've always hated that stupid X2 retitle for the North American market, clearly was to keep Bryan Singer happy but it was so unneeded. The rest of the world just called it X-Men 2.

Very disappointing flick, dunno about purchasing it. Terrific how Ratner made mention that only one scene of his was cut and a wad of deleted scenes are included in the specs.
But I guess people who love a generic pheno.....menon will dig it.

I don't understand why this movie has been so looked down upon. To me it was just as good as the previous two. Maybe that's because I'm not such a serious comic book fan, by maybe it's because people, for some reason, just don't like Brett Ratner and decide to hate, or be disappointed by, his movies before they actually see them...
Anyway, I do hope they change the art, and I'm definitely getting the Collector's Edition.

errr is it just me or is famke's head on the standard version abnormally large????!!!!
Have to agree with zoolerscom, they went seriously far away from the comics here and botched the third part to the vastly superior previous entries. Beast was awesome and was extremely underused (cyclops has been short changed through all 3 films but this was ridiculous). The inevitable double dip for this title is becoming all too infuriatingly common, I really hope a DTS track is announced at least. Superman Returns was a much stronger and emotionally involving picture than this (although it too felt a bit "rushed into production"-ish}...and this one had much more melodrama (I hasten to add very "rushed" melodrama with no time for anything but the next visual effect let alone give the audience a moment or 2 to grieve the multiple
character dispatches). Brett Ratner has no sense of pacing at all... he took a suspence masterpiece of a novel like Red Dragon and removed any shread of suspense..? I mean how do you screw up something so proven... the guy directs like he was reared in the art of film making by 30 second commercials or mtv
( I know that those fields are his background but that's really not an excuse, other commercial advertising/ music video
directors have made wonderful films). Not trying to bash just
seriously critique his work, he should have stayed with light comedies.

Oh my god, this was one of THE worst movies I've seen this year. I was pissed off at 10 minutes into it. It doesn't carry over the stories started in X2. Jean as Phoenix is completely wasted. She juststands aroundlike a terminator with a blown fuse. The Iceman/Pyro feud is given about 5 minutes screen time, and THAT justends in a head-butt. Yes, a frigging head-butt! They kill off characters, justso they can pose their movie as "edgy". Then they top everything off at the end by suggesting "eh, maybe all that DIDN'T happen..." Hey FOX, thanks insulting the audiences intelligence. I never had a problem with Ratner until this movie. He has about 20 shots of forest tops, TRYING to give this movie an "epic" feel. He basically just tries to copy Singer's style, which SOUNDS like a good idea, but its like watching someone trace the Mona Lisa and saying "hey, that's pretty good! it almost looks like the real thing."
Just everything about this movie blows. the cure storyline is never fleshed out. I think we all agree that Halle Berry is the worst actor/actress in the whole series, but they make Storm the main X-Man character, and its just an obvious attempt to please Berry's ego. She is made team leader and possible future Head-Master, even though she has done NOTHING in the movies to suggest she is capable of handling either duties. Cyclops is brushed aside merely because Marsden is in Superman. Beast, Angel, and Juggernaut are ALL wasted. The Omega mutants suck and are pointless. Wolverine is turned into a complete moron. I mean, I can go on and on....The way I figure is if your a fan of the X-men comics, you should and probably DO hate this movie, but if the extent of your knowledge is from the movies, you'll like this, but I can't see how, because it insults the intelligence of any viewer with an IQ over 7, and doesn't reward you with our patience over the cliffhanger endings of the 2nd movie.
On that note, I will be, unfortunately, be buying this movie, because I HAVE to finish the trilogy, and I am a dvd and comic-book w***e.
NOW,if someone can please explaing to me HOW this garbage is even REMOTELY better than the first two, or even a half-way decent movie in general.
And by the way.....Superman Returns (save for the continued c**ppy version of Lex Luthor) was really, really good. Even the romance....you spooks.

the single disc art bites. inferior to the cover art from the first two films. I do want to see X3 and will be glad when the 2 disc CE is out next year (just wish they could do it now instead of a double dip).

Although I think this is the third "best" in the trilogy, I totally agree with you that it totally "rapes" Superman Returns. That movie was a disappointment and a half. I think they messed up the 1 disc cover art though, but it doesn't matter... I'll be picking up the CE.

It was okay, not terrible, but nothing spectacular.
wasn't that great...
the movie tried to focus on two topics and neither had potentially established...
but ok. comic book version to put in the collection lol
it's surely not great, but not as close to be as bad as Catwoman...
Also FF had Jessica Alba!!!!!!!!!

woa, dude, what did you think was so bad about it!!?? Some things were dissapointing, but in NO WAY was this the worst film in 10 years. If you honestly think that, you dont see many movies.

I hate to say it but there is no 2-disc DVD. The Collector's Edition is just the standard DVD with different packaging and a 100-pg comic book.
I dont really care for thc comic book and I am a poor college student so I'm just going for the standard single-disc DVD like I mostly do. I only have time to watch the movie and not hrs of bonus material. But it is sad there is no making of featurettes on this edition.
As for the film, I thought it was on par with "X-Men". Great bit not amazing as "X2: X-Men United". A lot of things about "X-Men: The Last Stand" were dissapointing but the end result was really good. Overall I liked it. 8/10

I CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU PEOPLE WHO ARE TALKING ABOUT BUYING THIS FILM!!! IT WAS ONE OF THE WORST MOVIES TO COME OUT IN THE PAST 10 YEARS!!! ALMOST AS BAD AS CATWOMAN OR FANTASTIC 4!!! X3 was a cool summer movie, but the first two are better. This one only had Juggernaut
And does anyone know whether the triology pack will have the collectors edition?

The film was enjoyable, and the artwork is very good...BUT WHY Is FOX HOLDING BACK AGAIN WITH THIS DVD RELEASE!(Sorry about the caps). Everyone knows that there will be a 2-Disc on the way, I mean there isn't even a making of featurette on this! Sadly, I will end up buying this because I'm too impatient to wait for the 2-Disc(Which hopefully at least be an extended cut).

Sorry, but no way! X-men was trashy. X2 was superior and X3 is the marvelous of them all.

Definetly getting the Collectors Edition, it is the best one of the X-mens. complex storyline and endless action. Great film!
By the way, it is likely that there will be a DTS track, as Fox is the type of studio that assures DTS on basically half of their DVD libraries. For example, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Day after..., Man on Fire, AvP, X1, X2..... etc.
Why not add to the front cover of the DVD box "Two Thumbs Up!" by Ebert and Roeper? Their one of my favorite film critics.

Why the Hell DOES Angel have an X-Suit on?
Is there some deleted scene where he ISN'T flying around either shirtless or in some revealing shirt that causes the girls to giggle and gossip in the theater?

I love the artwork for the CE.
This movie was awful. But that's what you get with a mediocre director and a hack screenwriter, I suppose. Fox pissed away everything that made the first two worthwhile by rushing this one through production. Way to go.
CE for me - if only for the cover art. Their choices on the characters for the single-disc are terrible. Where's Beast? Why is proffesor X way in the back? Why is Angel even on there? He's barely in the movie and doesn't have any scenes in an X-suit as far as I can remember.
Not nearly as good as the second one - and about a half hour too short - but I look forward to getting it nonetheless.
IS it just me - or is that a terrible shot of Wolverine on the trilogy artwork. Shouldn't he be growling, or sneering or something?

probably the 2-disc will come out before WOLVERINE comes out (like with FANTASTIC FOUR, which I'm expecting to come out next year along with FF2)
I wanna wait for the 2-disc but the collector's set is tempting
Coming from Fox, I am not surprise. Wait for another 6 months and they will release a 2-disc set. Besides, the single disc edition looks pretty bare bones-commentary tracks and alternate endings-I'll pass for now.
I'll get the single disc edition grudgingly. It retails for the same as a 2 disc edition would. And the collector's edition just has some comic book with it and no second disc or special features!! Why do I see a X3.5 edition in the future?
I'll pick up that X-Men Trilogy since I don't own the previous versions.
This movie was better then the first. not as good as the second. great effects, though.
Thank you Ellason. I thought I was the only one who liked X3.
Will buy the CE. The trilogy is only 3 discs? Looks like a better boxset with all 3 movies will come out in the future.
Pulled a Munich. Mediocre 1-Disc DVD. Defintely better CE. Hopefully, both will be available everywhere.
This is one of the year's best. The people who worship Singer and bash this film can screw off. It rapes Superman Returns. Must buy.

I'll get the 2-disc

It may include DTS yet - still awaiting the full details...

Is their a making of documentry?
Only 1 disc, and since this is Fox, I'm pretty sure there's going to be a 2-disc edition next year...unrated, of course.

They screwed up the trilogy art. It should be Prof. X and Magneto front and center, not Wolvie and Magneto.
I like both cover-arts.
Didn't get to see it and I'm looking forward to it, so I'll be getting this as soon as possible.

Same here, although the UK will most likely be getting a 2-disk edition (we get our special editions the same time as the normal editions, unlike the US version of Fox with its double dips).
No DTS and terrible art?!

1 disk art looks terrible and of course I will be getting the collectors edition
