Just so everyone knows, I think the "MAKE A PORNO" is gone from ALL releases.  I looked at the DVD and Blu at Target (we get them early)and it is not on the cover so it is not just a Walmart thing.

I don't understand why this did not make more money. Just by the title it should make 40 year old virgin money.

Just to clear things up-

* That's right. There's no commentary. Kevin said on his message board he'd be too depressed, thinking about how much money the movie should have made, wondering what went wrong.
* Yeah, that is a dildo or vibrator in Katie Morgan's hands.
* Kevin Smith did not have to cut anything out for an R rating so there would be nothing to put back into an "unrated" version. By now, though, most people know "unrated" is just a ploy and rarely contains anything more controversial than was already in the rated version. The only people who choose unrated over rated are gullible horny teenagers or adults only when the unrated is the only version available or has more features.
* Ben Affleck screwed his OWN career up and Smith isn't copying Apatow. He just used Seth Rogen because he liked him in Virgin and Rogen  brought along friends/Apatow regulars Banks & Robinson. It wasn't intentional.

I too am VERY surprised there is no commentary. All of his films have a commentary track.

S**t movie.  hope it doesnt ruin Rogen's career.

Looking forward to this, i hope it's region free on Blu.

What, no commentary? Smith is only one of the best commentators out there, I find it hard to believe there wouldn't be one here, maybe it's an oversight.

Kevin Smith didn't kill Ben Affleck's career - Ben did when he decided to do "Pearl Harbor" and get with Jennifer Lopez, which led to "Gigli"...

I'm with Tyler.  Usually, you can't get Smith to shut up about making his flicks (but why would you want to?  I love hearing him talk), but not having a commentary on this seems really fishy.  Wonder what happened...

And at the Red Bank 11/08 Q&A, the question about the whole "Smith makes an Apatow" film was addressed, and Apatow admitted as much - that he is influenced by Smith.  Also, what makes this an "Apatow"-like film is just the fact that Seth Rogen's in it.  There is a little bit of a sameness to everything he does (except for "Donnie Darko"), but the rest of it was all genuine Smith.  

With Apatow's movies, a lot of it is a kind of "let's fling sh*t at a wall, see which turd sounds funnier, cut that together and make a movie".  That's a very harsh statement, and I like the Apatow movies, don't get me wrong.  But a lot of his movies feel the same way - that uncomfortable, linger-too-long-on-a-subject kind of feel.  With Smith, it's more focused and less loose.  I didn't see the corollaries that everyone seemed to be drawing between this film and what Judd Apatow had done before, other than the fact that Rogen tends to play the same guy in every movie.  Look at it differently, and you'll see that this movie is all Kevin Smith, whether you like it or not.

I am disappointed that there's no commentary. And yeah, since none of Kevin Smith's flicks to date have had an "Unrated" cut and Smith got what he wanted on appeal, don't hold your breath for any double dips (except of course in ten years).

I love how at Wal-Mart, the tagline on the cover is "This is the last job that they can blow," whereas here it's "What would you do to get out of debt?"

I like the cover, I like how they made each character dress like a cliche porn character. The movie was great, will definitely buy.

Getting the chance to see this at TIFF08 was so amazing.

During Kevin's Q&A in Red Bank in November, he said that he pretty much, for all intents and purposes, got what he wanted.  He had to cut a few frames of thrusting and a few frames of the ... well, if you've seen the movie, you'll know that a certain character's constipation plays into this.  He took the movie to the MPAA and got an NC-17 the first time.  He cut what they wanted out and still got an NC-17.  They demanded more cuts; he didn't cut any more and appealed it, basing his arguments on the grounds that it was comedic and not trying to titillate or actually BE a porno.  He got an R based on that appeal without making any further cuts.

Definitely going to buy this one.  LOVE this flick.

Anyway, I'll definitely rent it. It seemed hilarious.

I highly disagree. I think if they took out "porno" less people would see it. It's that part of the title that intrigues people most. A movie called "Zack & Miri Make a Porno" grabs my attention much more than a movie simply called "Zack & Miri" would.

It kinda reminds me of those Epic/Date/Disaster movie artworks and other c**p DTV comedy artworks.

I find it a little odd that Smith's name isn't featured on the cover.  I mean, I checked and it's absent from most of his films' DVD covers, but somehow its absence here seems more conspicuous.  Then again, I suppose the alternative is the Jersey Girl cover...

The cover art reminds me of those stupid spoof movies that get released every year.  As for the movie itself, I thought it was excellent.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and will for sure be picking it up.

One of the best comedies of last year & easily Kevin Smith's best film! I'll get this for sure!

Don't be fooled by the crude humor, which is HILARIOUS, but Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen deliver excellent and heartfelt performances! If Tropic Thunder can get acting nominations at the Golden Globes, then this one should've gotten nominated for acting as well!

Definite win for BEST KISS at the MTV movie awards! Their scene together was AMAZING!!!

Can't wait to get this on Blu-ray! Elizabeth Banks is so hot!!
