Toshiba has released details of their first all-in-one DVD projector called the TDP-ET20U DLP®, which most significantly features "extreme short projection" - allowing them to target everything from home entertainment to business and academic uses.

This product is capable of displaying up to a 100-inch (~2.5m) diagonal screen image from just 3.9 feet (~1.2m) away from the screen. There's also an integrated DVD player with 5.1-channel Dolby Pro Logic surround with the following ports: RGB, HDMI, S-video, composite video and component video via three RCA jacks - all accessible from the front. The projector weighs 10.6 pounds (~4.8kg), offers 1,100 lumens, 2000:1 contrast ratio and has an adjustable aspect ratio from 16:9 to 4:3

"The TDP-ET20U all-in-one projector is a complete solution for mobile professionals, teachers, businesses and home entertainment," said Sam Malik, director of projector sales and marketing, Toshiba Digital Products Division. "It is the perfect projector for those 'prosumers' who want a lightweight, portable multimedia projector for work that they can take home on the weekend."

So, if you consider yourself to be - can't believe I am typing this - a 'prosumer' then the TDP-ET20U DLP® is available now via Toshiba for $1,399, and will be available through regular retailers in September.
